How is an abstract lost?

On the subject of real estate abstracts...

I think Oklahoma is one of only 3-4 states left in the US that still requires abstract maintenance for real estate transactions.  Must be due to the title company lobby and the "good old boy" way of doing things here.

On the other hand, a property abstract can be a very fascinating read.  I have checked out and poured over the abstract to my home several times, and have learned all about the history of my midtown Tulsa subdivision and my property, from the original Creek Indian tribal lands/allotment forward.  Very cool stuff, for those interested.

Well, I close today at 2PM.  If I ever do this again I will only use Guaranty Abstract and NO OTHER.

About the Indian...I found out the name of the Creek nation family that owned the property and am researching them.  I'll honor them somehow on the property.  Quite a tale is unfolding about them.
