Looks like Broken Arrow is finally going to get their way with the eyesore mobile home park. I kind of have mixed emotions about the matter because as a youngster in the early 80s, I moved in there and even went thru the Memorial Day flood. But I have to say even way back then it was pretty run down. The city annexed it in several years back so they could handle the drug problem and now the issue is a road they want to go thru there. Can anyone fill me in about what road and why they need it to go thru there.

I went there to visit a friend for the first time last month.

It looked like Tijuana.

There were mobile homes with plywood sides and missing doors.

The only way some of those mobile homes stayed together was to have the termites hold hands.

now THAT's funny.  unoriginal...but funny.

Typical story...   Money is moving out that direction and they don't like having to look at mobile homes sitting on what could potentially be millions in real estate.

Another case of Eminent Domain in practice? Run down? Perhaps. But people do call that neighborhood home. While I didn't live there,  I did have some good times there and I am familiar with the neighborhood.

Gaspar

There was one mobile home out there that literally had the walls fall off last year.  The lady who lived there had collected so much crap that she was living in only a few feet of free space and finally some of the rotten walls fell down spilling all of her composting "possessions" all over the ground.

I'm sure a lot of good Tweety-bird shirts had to be thrown away.

Gaspar I know which one you are talking about. It was the first one on the right on North 31 off 71st(East side)I think that it was blue and it did fall smooth apart. That mobile looked terrible for years before the trash just swole it apart. The lot is still empty.
Mr Jaynes I also agree with you, back in the early 80s it was not nearly as bad and I did have a great time living there and had several friend's in the park. The big rocket looking tower was still out front and 71st was not as crazy as it is now.

I still don't see why the city "needs" it to build an access road parallel to 71st....

Other than they just don't like the trailer park.

I'm gonna burn down the trailer park,
Shoot the pink flamingoes out in the yard.
I can't live here since you broke my heart,
I'm gonna burn down the trailer park.
