at&t's CEO's Justification for Outsourcing Jobs

As found on Drudge, at&t's CEO has an interesting take on outsourcing..

As a card-carrying CWA member, all I can say is this guy needs to shut up.  What an outrage! The idea that he has to go to the poorest nation on earth to find rubes willing to work in an at&t sweatshop!

People he is not talking about importing PhD's to do advanced work, he is talking about answering the phone and speaking to people.  
And then he blames our education system!!

What a complete waste of $22 MILLION (his annual salary/bonus package).

And as a point of order, the AT&T "sweatshop" you are referring to is a desirable and well paying job in Bangalore.  Those people make a good living, not a paupers 3rd world country "good living" either.  These are not "sweatshop" conditions nor totally unskilled labor.  They are not only literate, but bilingual and work in a clean office environment, it's just a lot cheaper to live in India than the US.
