Cox Internet Problems on Rainy Days?

Does anyone else with Cox Internet have connectivity problems on rainy days?  I'm starting to wonder if squirrels chewing on cables is the problem.  My connection is fine until we get a heavy rain, like today...then it slows to a crawl.  (Or, more accurately, the speed at which a dead possum can crawl.)

I have no issues with mine.  We recently just built a new house and the cable line is buried of course, so no issues of squirrels chewing on the lines.  At our old apt, we had cox internet and had no issues there either.  You might call them out for a service call and see what they say.

I have always had problems with Cox e-mail. I cannot attach documents, it often locks up, and is generally useless.
Someone get Hoss a pacifier.

I quit using ISP provided email in 1998. Too much spam, too many limitations.

In PI's case, I would wonder if someone has done some amateur wiring in the box as well.

When you consider ISP's sell their email addresses to spammers (um, "partnetrs"), that's a good call.  SBC was really bad about it, as is AOL.

We were having problems with ours, and finally had Cox out. They determined that the line from our house had actually been damaged by the ice storm (falling tree debris) and the rain was causing a short. It might be worthwhile to have them out to take a look at it.

I had similar problems with my old-fashioned AT&T land phone line for the past 4-5 years.  The repairmen explained to me that my neighborhood was wired with old "lead", paper insullated phone cable (50 years old) and during heavy rains moisture would leak into the cable and cause static and connections problems.  AT&T ran new cable down my block just about a 3 weeks ago to handle both voice and their new television service, so this should hopefully solve my ongoing problems.

I don't know what neighborhood you live in or the age of the Cox lines in your area, but it sounds like a similar problem to me.
