Free Mulch??

Does anyone know where I can pick up some free mulch this weekend? I did not keep any from my tree removal and I would feel awfully silly buying some when I know there must be a ton for the taking out there somewhere.

I recommend that you take your own shovel or pitchfork and some buckets or bags. Scoop all you want.

The stuff on the bottom has begun to compost into soil and is very good for the garden. The stuff on the top is bigger chips and is great for cover around bushes and trees.

I usually get two or three trucks loads every spring, and plan to get a couple loads this weekend myself.  If you want an entire truck/trailer load, they will load it for you.  Makes pretty quick work of it.

Front-end loader.

If you're bringing an SUV, you need to have some bins or something to put the mulch in and someway of getting it in those bins.

RM- I've always been led to believe that mulch other than cypress, pine, or cedar is termite bait.  Any truth to that and is there an earth friendly treatment the paranoid amongst us could use?

These guys used to just grind trees and make mulch. Now they inspect every limb and make sure that they don't spread termites back to homes.

I would not use mulch in a garden that actually touches the house. Keep a couple of feet of distance and you should be OK.
