"John McCain, who from the early 1980s worked hard to establish himself the one of the Senate's shining champions of Vietnam veterans' issues, completed his betrayal of the Iraq-era troops today. "

"Yesterday VoteVets.org delivered a petition with 30,000 signatures to the office of Senator John McCain. Through that petition, we asked him to support Senator Jim Webb's new GI Bill. And less than 24 hours later, we have an answer:

"Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, seemed to give a thumbs down to bipartisan legislation that would greatly expand educational benefits for members of the military returning from Iraq and Afghanistan under the GI Bill...."

The reason for McCain's refusal to support the bill is about the most disturbing rationale one could imagine....Officials in charge of Pentagon personnel worry that a more generous and expansive GI Bill would create an incentive for troops to get out of the military and go to college."

There you go spreading half-truths again.  And you said your looney leftist sites were truthful.

"McCain Would Not Commit To Supporting The 21st Century GI Bill. When asked why he has not yet supported the 21st Century GI Bill, McCain responded "I have not had a chance to examine it carefully. It seems to me that it's a good thing to do. But I haven't examined the bill with the care that I, that I, that it needs. But we obviously need to do something along those lines and I just had a conversation with Senator Webb, who as you know is one of those spearheading it and I told him I was very supportive but that I hadn't had a chance to examine it in detail yet." [CNN Live Feed (Chula Vista, CA), 3/24/08]"

What a novelty, he wants to examine the content of the bill prior to committing to vote for it.

You might want to Google the veracity of your tall tales before you post them.  Sure would save others the trouble of needing to set you straight all the time, Aox.

Just for grins, I figured I'd run VoteVets.org though the kennel and find the fleas just like the sham gun organization Bledsoe was pimping yesterday.

One description:

"...Aims to put Iraq and Afghanistan veterans in Congress who are critical of the execution of the war in Iraq, and to take politicians to task for votes"

WaPo in Feb. 2007 estimated about 1000 Iraq/Afgh. vets are members out of a total of 20,000 members.

Here's the bottom of their front page:

"Paid for VoteVets Political Action Committee. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee. VoteVets Action Fund is a 501(c)(4) organization which primarily focuses on nonpartisan education and advocacy on behalf veterans and their families. VoteVets Political Action Committee is a federal political committee which primarily helps elect Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran candidates and educates about veterans and military issues aimed at influencing the outcome of the next election.

VoteVets Political Action and Vote Vets Action Fund are separate organizations."

Non-partisan is a bit suspect, considering they have affilliations with Clinton, Obama, Edwards, Richardson, and a co-founder was an organizer of vets in Pa. for Kerry in '04.

It will take him a long time to grasp this issue in this form.

Are you saying that FOTD post things without reading them first?  I thought altruismsuffers was the only one that did that.

Here's my impression of FOTD...

Obama resigns!  Looks like the demoturds have decided that he's not capable of winning.  Check out the link for details.

Obama can't win says Jesus

Warning! Link may or may not have corroborating information.

Be fair, I think AOX has found yet another stellar and relatively unbiased news source to glean valuable information from.  Other headlines from today:

Why Financial Regulation is Essential

Progressives Rising

Conservatism is Dying

Living Up To Lame Duck Status

McCain's Economic Remedy: A Double Dose of the Same

The Decline of Conservatism

quote:
About us page says
[Comrades]...our daily work is to bring about the progressive transformation [in our glorious union].
. . .
But while conservatism may be exhausted, progressives are just getting started. [Comrades], [t]he Campaign for America's Future is driving our progressive movement and offering the new vision, bright ideas and bold leadership Americans rightly demand.

We are showing the way toward accessible education, affordable health care and secure retirements for all. [Four legs good, 2 legs bad.]
. . .
We cannot let the conservative failure that brought us to this precarious moment tip [our glorious republic] into another Gilded Age and leave the world at the mercy of unaccountable multinationals, [capitalists], oil-drenched autocrats and merchants of terrorism.

I made a [few additions] but didn't change the gist of the statement.  If this is what you read all day, no wonder your thought processes seem so narrow most of the time.  Try reading a variety of sources instead of just the left-most.

You are joking, right? They're paying $1 Billion/day for the war and have no idea what it's going towards. Not to our veterans, obviously.

About the $50K, no.  But since you asked let's make it $100K, no questions asked.

Wouldn't you rather see a candidate want to think about something and see it for all it's details prior to glomming on to the populist band-wagon on an issue?

Again: "I was very supportive but that I hadn't had a chance to examine it in detail yet"

He didn't turn his back on the troops, he hadn't made up his mind.  This VetsVote or whatever it's called is another example of a liberal organization posing as a conservative organization, strictly for electioneering purposes and to subvert elections.

"Whoa, Vets and gun organizations support Obama, I gotta get on board!"

McSaint did not prioritize Webb's GI bill because he did not review it yet.

In these times of neccesary action on many issues, the country needs a team who will make things happen. The candidates do give specific mention to their agenda and only Barrack Obama has wide support amongst our GI's because they know what he says regarding veterans and their predicament to be true and they trust he will serve them better than those that lead today.

If McSaint plans to walk in and say, "I haven't been able to review it" we will see nothing intelligent leading our country. If he is elected we will be a Procrasti Nation.

Lousy excuse.

So, out of the list of priorities, what would you put on top?

Economy?

Unemployment?

Energy prices?

Housing crisis?

Inflation?

GI College tuition?

Vets truly should be a priority, but which wheel is the squeakiest right now?

Biggest single problem which is facing the majority of workaday America right now is high fuel costs.  $3.29 for unleaded, over $4.00 for diesel. (and all the inflation that high diesel prices will bring).

All those "issues", except taking care of our heroes and students, fall under the economy. The economy is top priority followed closely by ending the war and doing right by those who sacrificed.
