I've heard that the Cabela's in Bixby was just a crazy rumor.

C'mon give us the scoop about this phantom development down here. God knows we need something...anything.....I can only go to Lowe's or Wal-Mart(which is Tulsa anyway) so many times.

There is the Super Target coming, perhaps a larger more impressive development is going to go along with it than we assume?

I mean, if they ever get around to building the damn thing.  Wal-mart already retaliated and got a store up and running while that Target is still an idea on paper.

That Super Target is going to be in Tulsa at 101st the last I heard. Has that changed? Bixby needs some development, especially on the South side of the river, in a bad bad way.

well I can tell you this.  Jiffy Lube is going forward and building at 121st/mem.  Think about the other Jiffy Lubes around town and their proximity to a certain retailer.  Think of what was at 71st/memorial.

But I'm not talking about that development per se.  I'm talking about the development at the SE corner of 101st/memorial.  Bixby City Council already had the reading for the final plat.

Chuck E. Cheese?

This is all I could find:

Discuss and/or approve action on a Preliminary Plat and certain Waivers/Modifications for 101 South Memorial Plaza (PUD 63), located in a part of 101 South Memorial Center and the NW/4 NW/4 of Section 25, T18N, R13E, located south of 101st Street South and east of Memorial Drive. I don't think a Dave & Busters will work anywhere in Tulsa or the surrounding area.

We don't have a large enough population base, nor the tourism draw that this franchise likes to shoot for.

Can anyone provide a link to this source, because I don't think its going to happen.

I think it might work with the right location, but having been gone for 10 years so much has changed.

On the tourism part, personaly for my wife and I when we travel we always ask the locals where they go for good food and fun. Generally if we have it in Phoenix and haven't been there we more than likely will not go there on a trip, and if we have been there, there is no point to go there while on vacation. One of the best places was this little mom and pop Italian deli in San Jose, I was thinking Arby's and she happened to see this place that if weren't looking for it you would miss it. It was very much like Cedars Imports, (I still remember it as Antones)but the food was fresh and the prices were great.

Anyway just my two cents.

like it or not 71st/169 is a tourist destination.  It is a joke no doubt, but it is big times for someone from Inola.

And then spend the night at the Fairfield Inn, and brag the next day about spending the weekend in the "Big City".[}:)]

But seriously, it's been four years since I have been back to Tulsa and the wife and I are thinking about taking an extended vacation later this year, fly into Tulsa and spend a couple of days and then driving to Memphis, and maybe New Orleans as well. If not New Orleans I have relatives in Edomond I think we would go see. I would definitely have to check out all the changes in the downtown area, avoiding anything owned by Steve Kitchel mind you, but that's another story for another time.

(Mental note, check out thread on Downtown stadium plan)

What's the name and location of this SJ deli?

Regarding D&B, I wouldn't think of it as a touristy place.  We have one in nearby Milpitas.  I went there when it first opened many years ago because a friend's cousin was there from D&B HQ.  He treated us to the meal and gave us unlimited access to the games.  The food was fine.  I had virtually no interest in the games.  I've never had the inclination to want to go back.  Nothing against D&B, it just didn't do much for me.  That said, I guess it has its following and I'm glad to see something like this go into the Tulsa area.

Kitchell is getting easier to avoid.

I actually found where the place is but can't think of the name of it. I found it using Google Earth following the route we took form the Winchester House to get to the 280 to go to the Golden Gate. The place had a unique parking lot that was only two spaces wide between the building and the sidewalk. It's just west of Tyler on the north side of Stevens Creek Blvd. Here is a picture of the place.

Man, I thought my memory was selective.  Nice job locating it though.

When it comes to good food, there is a permanent file for future reference in my head.

The other thing is I have been involve in photography for 30 some years and tend to remember details about things.
