Does anyone know if it has been decided which theater in midtown (AMC or Promenade) will carry the new Batman movie? Also when will tickets go on sale.

You can usually keep up with this via IMDB (www.imdb.com)

Looks like it's going to be at promenade which I've always considered sub-par to amc and cinemark.

Supposedly it is 3 hours of canned awesome so I would be tempted to spend the extra few bucks and see the imax version at cinemark. You can buy tickets online for cinemark for a midnight showing (non-imax).

Batman and Robin are camping in the desert, set up their tent and are asleep. Some hours later, Batman wakes his faithful friend. "Robin, look up at the sky and tell me what you see."

Robin replies, " I see millions of stars."

"What does that tell you?" asks Batman.

Robin ponders for a minute.

"Astronomically speaking, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets.

Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo.

Chronologically, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three.

Theologically, it's evident the Lord is all-powerful and we are small and insignificant.

Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow.

What does it tell you, Batman?"

Batman is silent for a moment, then speaks:

" Robin, you idiot, someone has stolen our tent."
Power is nothing till you use it.

Promenade and their black box theater is far superior to the straight back chairs at the AMC.

The problem is that they never had good movies at the Promenade...AMC on the other hand, typically does and even shows indie films.

Promenade, however, is my favorite theater in this town.

If I was going to see a "popcorn movie" I would rank the theaters this way:

1. Cinemark
2. Riverwalk
3. Admiral Twin
4. Eton Square
5. AMC
6. Dickinson
7. Promenade

5. AMC

7. Promenade

I'd say:

1. Promenade (it's black inside there and the sound system is killer...and it's not crowded)
2. Admiral Twin (only if good weather)
3. Cinemark (great all around theater)
4. Starworld (only if in the balcony)
5. Eton Square (go here most - like the tables and prices)
6. Riverwalk (feels like a dungeon in there)
7. AMC (those seats don't go back...I always feel like I'm leaning forward)

I used to work at AMC years ago and I remember while I was there, they brought back a bunch of old movies. Including Godfather, Indiana Jones, Braveheart, etc. That was pretty cool; it was great seeing those movies back up on the big screen since I was too young to have seem them during the original run. Braveheart especially brought out a lot of the diehards. Many people wearing kilts and facepaint.

Saw it opening night with the masses.

Current stats:
Only movie in 2008 to be rated 4/4 by the Tulsa World (so far obviously)
Biggest opening day of all time.
Rated #1 movie of all time on imdb.
Imax version is sold out 3 days in advance.

It's 2.5 hours long and while I'm not positive that it is the #1 movie of all time it definitely captured the spirit of the batman characters better than anything I have ever seen before and entertained throughout. You could not ask for this movie to have been made any better. Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart should both be nominated for best supporting actor although Heath Ledger should win. Many actors play similar parts in their movies but his representation of the joker is completely unlike any part he has played before and captured the twisted demented joker likely better than he was ever imagined. Keep in mind the guy who thought up the character helped in the creation of the latest on screen version.

I saw it tonite and its a great movie. Perhaps a little longer than it needed to be but I wouldn't know where to cut.

Heath Ledger was so demented and so cool. His take as a chaotic psychotic is only made more queasy by his voice sounding like a certain Rush Limbaugh hating comedian running for public office.[:D] I can see several scenes that will end up as classics on posters in college dorms. The nurse and twoface!

It took half the movie for me to remember that he has passed.

Saw it last night-and I dare say that Ledger's performance blows Jack Nicholson's interpretation of the role way out of the water.

sgrizzle

Agreed. And crazy person is one job Nicholson has always been good at.

I'd heard a rumor last week figured I'd Google it, yep, Nicholson claims to have warned Ledger about taking this role:

Was it me, or did the plot device of the kidnapping get old the 19th time around?

Ledger is really good.  The imagery in the move is great.  At times it's really creative.  But about half way through I thought it was a little contrived, even for a Batman movie.

joiei

I'll pass on this one.  They are trying to make batman something that he wasn't when i was a kid reading the comic books.  All of this dark subplot, it didn't happen then.  I don't really care about Heath Ledger being super in his role, it was not what Batman was about when I was a kid. Things were so much simpler then.
