I am new to the board and saw a similar thread but I can't seem to find it again now.  I think the previous thread had to do with who do you think or who have you heard will run for mayor next year.  I think the responses were Councilors Eagleton, Christiansen and Martinson.

My question for the board is a little different.  If you had your pick of anyone (Republican, Democrat, or Independent) running who would you like to see run for mayor next year?  With the goal being to elect the possible mayor for the city.

I don't think Christiansen has the time or inclination to be a full-time politician.  I'd like to see Eagleton run, no word if he's considering or not.

I'd say since KT didn't jump in for the U.S. HOR or Senate, she's re-upping.

I think Kathy Taylor will run again too.  I'm not a Taylor supporter though.

I am a Republican and I would like to see someone new run.  I don't have any names for you which is why I posed the question.  IMO whoever it is they will either need to have the grass roots behind them or a lot of money to keep up with Taylor's machine.

It's worse to admit you're a Democrat around here! You're likely to lose your job or your friends.

Taylor is just Ok with me. Can't think of another Dem who, given the political environment, could do any better.

HRH Mayor Kathy Taylor has her sights on higher office.

In 2010, I predict she'll run for:

Oklahoma GOVERNOR.

Gov. Bad Brad Henry is term-limited.

She'll roll out of office as Mayor in early 2010, and can devote the next six months to running full time for Governor.

That would be perfectly alright with me. I liked her as mayor, and I'm sure I would like her as governor.

Perfect timing for her.

If approved by voters, her proposed $451 million tax increase for street improvements will commence in 2010, about the time she departs office.

And, the city operating budget will just start experiencing the hemorrage caused by the opening and operation of the BOK Arena.

The debt service (interest only for TEN years) on the new city hall at OTC won't have ramped up to include Principal payments until some years later.

Shrewd.

And, the first year's bite of new taxes for the downtown BID to build the new Driller Stadium will only be a year old; hardly noticeable until the tax notices hit the downtown businesses and landlords at end-of-year.

Her Tulsa Legacy will be Higher Taxes.

Yaaaay! [8D], and she still has more time. By late 2010 there will already be a marked improvement in downtown, and I think by 2012 we will begin to see solid, positive, results from all these efforts. I would like to see her run for one more term as Mayor. But am just glad we had her for this one. We needed someone who was willing to take chances, work extra hard to push things forward, and have the vision and fortitude to hold the line against the naysayers and their "nimby, no no no, hate downtown" agenda.

oh yes, taking chances like giving away 7.1 mil of taxpayer dollars is just what we need!

She won't run against Drew. But outside chance she'd run for office in Florida....

Reminds me of Susan Savage. Queen Kathy will probably buy herself a nice, safe, appointment somewhere to shield herself from the fallout, just like Savage Sue.
