Lieberman kicked himself to the curb by tossing the rules when he realized he couldn't win playing by the rules.  Liberman doesn't get team sports, but he does understand a grubby, ugly kind of survival.

I love to hear my fellow Democrats rip big loser Lieberman.

And I would love to see Lieberman and McCain on the same ticket.  Sure fire laugh riot.

Very few in the Democrat party came out against the war until it became expedient in the '04 election.  "Let's see, how will we be different than the GOP this time?  I know let's be against the war because most liberals are against the war".

Lieberman never ran for cover, nor apologized.  That took a lot more balls than:

"I was before it before I was against it"

or

"Bush lied"

Naw, they never took him to the curb.  They've been quietly making common cause with him on lots of votes outside of foreign policy. Remember, he left the party, not the other way around. And actually, he never left the party.  He calls himself an "Independent Democrat," whatever that means. Which means he's affiliated but he isn't.  Or when it suits him. Or when he's not hanging with Republicans.  Or something.

'06-'09 has been a convenient time for him to move off the reservation.  He could play all he wanted to, ideologically, and still hold power in a divided Senate. When every vote counts, you have to come to Lieberman.

As far as the GWOT thing goes, you say tomato, I say banana.  The Dems as a party were slow to realize what most of their constituents knew, and that was how flimsy the entire construct, from soup to nuts, was.  You name it -- Iraq, WMDs,and that whole mess, ignoring Afghanistan and missing Bin Laden, Guantanamo, torture and the black prison sites around the world, and in general erosion of civil liberties at home -- it's all been a sham. But the Dems were so busy conciliating and compromising with the Republicans they never looked up to see the big picture.  By 2004, enough evidence had come out that, if they hadn't changed their stance, they would've been out the door. That's not flip-floppery, that's doing what they were voted in to do:  represent the changing views of their people.

The alternative to "expediency" is an obstinate boulder like Bush, who in the face of all evidence, insists his course is still right.  That's not moral character, that's intransigence.

Joe Lieberman (Traitor-CT) to Speak At Republican Convention
http://openleft.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=7622

Does not appear this schmoe will be the old wrinkley guys running mate. This is fair play for the GOP. After all, the demo's have invited the mayor of Fairbanks, Alaska to speak in Denver

Hopefully, the senate democrats will call this turd what he really is, a reich-wing rethug.

It amazes me when someone steps out from the quagmire of partisan politics to try and do the right thing for America, party-be-damned, he's castigated for it.

Personally, I'm tired of a priveleged few in the DNC and RNC dictating to the rest of us what is and is not best for America via their proxies in the Senate and HOR.

I admire guys like Lieberman and Coburn who aren't afraid to go against the flock.

Even if they're horribly wrong?

They do flock.  They flock with some really ugly birds.

That's my point.  I'm not against personal conviction, and I'm ok with disagreement within the party, but there is a point where the level of disagreement changes the fundamental nature of the disagreer.  For many of us, Lieberman's discarded enough of what it means to be a Dem that he shouldn't be accorded the label anymore.

And I would suggest that it isn't the DNC who want to toss Lieberman overboard. They're moneymen, and bettors-on-sure-things, and Lieberman commands enough of both to make him palatable to the party leadership.  The people who want Lieberman gone are mid-range rank and filers who think we're being played pretty much every night of the week when he shows up on stage with the opposition candidate thrashing his own party. Or ex party.

Sorry for the rant, but Lieberman pisses me off just like Zell Miller pissed me off.

No, the devil loves women and respects them and admires many women. Women are devil's cake! He does not use women.

So, being the mean person you are Conan, you are wrong. Ask your ex how many times you were wrong and just plain mean.

This devil's a kind bud. He just does not understand why people the ilk of John McCain (R-Idiot) uses women and refuses to allow them to open up to the media. What are they all hiding besides her stupidity? Husbands who control their wives lose out in the end. You know that.[:P][:P][}:)][:D]
