Ticket Re-seller companies are everywhere in the U.S.  They are classified as a service and are legal in the majority of states.  Don't believe service oriented business can have cost controls unless they are subsidised by the government.

Typically an Invoice Price is what one party agreed to pay another party for a service or product.

Most these firms have a large data base of clients that have and will continue to purchase tickets to the hottest upcoming events.  Most of the resellers clients make buys of front row and the good seats long before the tickets go on sale at the box office.

These are not the "On the Sidewalk" sellers.  Majority of these firms cater to folks that earn large sums per hour for their services and contract or pay others a fee to perform jobs such as standing in line to buy tickets.

over the years, i've been fortunate enough to briefly own many, many valuable that i would not be using (ou tx - 50 yrd line, raiders-chiefs monday night box seats, 3rd row u2 zooropa, two pairs of fanclub only tickets "in the heart" for two different u2 cities- las vegas and msg, a pair of radiohead tickets at the bottleneck, more wildbrew tickets than i can count, many sold out cains' shows)...

starting in college- i camped out, called in, logged in, bartered and stole what i could to get them... keep in mind, i also got ****ed over many times by ticketbastard and "the man" and ended up with no tickets despite my best efforts...

i've always held it as a point of pride that the only way i could stick it back to "the man" was to provide them at face value to some poor unfortunate ticketless soul...

it always surprises the hell out of them when i tell them what i'm asking and it makes me feel better... ****, i've been known to just give them (the ones i got for free) away outside a venue despite their inflated value...

sure, they might turn around and become a profiteer but pancakes? if i did not lose anything, i could not care less... and i'm not performing...

thats just me...

Sorry shadows. I ain't resigning from my job just because you think I should.

I sold my tickets to an out-of-state buyer whom I assume is coming to Tulsa to spend even more money. I didn't take any food out of the mouths of the Tulsa poor.

I received no special treatment, broke no laws, and plan to spend every penny of profit buying tickets to future shows.

The poor, the widower, the children who go to bed hungry all must pay the same tax on the necessities to sustain life as you do to build the arena that seem to have become a scalpers heaven..  It must be assuring to the out-of-towners to know that Tulsa's members of suppose trust, use as a base to stand on to scalp, tickets that the unfortunate have scarified so much, going without needed drugs, in order to provide the source from whence the tickets originate.  To further boast of the hundreds of dollars gained from the joint venture when the poor that they feed off of, spend another a sleepless night trying to determine where the food will come from the next day.

I hope you have a good night of sleep.

Tulsa I am sure is known as a friendly city

How could you possibly own two pair of shoes when there are Tulsans without shoes?

I think your use of the arena as the oppressor of the poor will fail to resonate. In your mind, the Performing Arts Center takes food out of the mouths of the poor as well. Why, the airport is paid for on the backs of those who can't afford to fly so anyone who has flown on a jet should be ashamed and give their possessions to you.

Every retailer has made profit by being a middleman. Target and WalMart must be banished for their exploitation of the poor for profit.

Actually the Ticket Re-seller companies, at events that are somewhat controlled to contain run-away ticket purchases, rely on many folks that live in downtown areas to perform the "standing in line" portion of these transactions.  Thus, providing a needed service for the more fortunate who in turn are not hesitant to pay those folks, perhaps the less fortunate, for their time in line.

So there are numerous folks involved in this industry, from the foot soldiers in line that are paid to purchase the initial tickets, to the folks that handle the credit card transactions, those that author and maintain the point of purchase web sites, to the staff that handles phone calls and email requests.

Simply another service industry that most working Americans have come to rely on to save them time and the high cost of energy for travel expense, which to many is way more valuable than the added amount of money required for the service.

Actually if you disect this entire process, one would possibly come to the conclusion that watching the performances on television is a much more economical and practical method of obtaining the same information other than the effect of being there in person.

The advent of new High-Def Cameras, trick equipment for movement of cameras, angles, close up shots and additional data and comentary make many pre-recorded or live events much more enhanced when televised than in person.

They still have not found a way to carry the five human senses overall "live experience" through a digitized data stream.  The movie Polyester came closer with it's scratch n sniff ordor-rama card that came with the movie. Home entertainment centers have simulated the 3-D audio, but fall far from recreating the ground pounding drive the worms out of the ground feel of a Top Fuel Dragster.

The devil is a disciple of John Waters and still has his scratch and sniff card.....but the scents have sense dissipated.

It did not have a hint of hemp. And there's nothing like the feel of a good live concert.

I thought most of the tix were bought on-line these days, not long lines at a box office.

RM   Me thinkus that there is a confusion as to whether the apple and orange grow on the same tree.   We seem to be comparing legitimate business ventures to shady performance of hiking the established price because of shortage.   If these tickets have an  established price of $50 dollars, can be sold for $150 dollars, then the citizens of Tulsa are being short changed by promoters selling the tickets at such a lower price whereas if sold at a higher price the difference could be used to pay off the revenue bonds much sooner.

They can advertise that the (ten) tickets for $50 dollars are sold out but there are some of the $150 dollars tickets still available for the big spenders.

The laws of Oklahoma are based on authority granted to do or perform.  I have not read where scalping for personal profit is included in the written law.

Shadows...do you think anybody who buys and resells anything for a profit has committed a crime?

How about antiques dealer? How about used sports car dealers? How about a coin collector who sells his coins?

I bet when TickleMe Elmo flew off the Christmas store shelves you wrote the same complaint.

Speaking of apples and oranges, why do you think different stores sell produce at different prices at different times of the year? Supply and demand is a law that even you cannot change.

Accept what you cannot change, especially in large denominations.

Many event promoters require non-removable and bar coded arm bands which are distributed and placed on prospective ticket buyers wrists on one date, then they allow only people with those bands to stand in line the day the tickets go on sale.  These procedures were iniitiated to protect against single sources from purchasing large bulks of tickets.

What ever types of protection one may use, there are always inovative ways to go around them.

There were very long lines of people at the Tulsa area Homeland stores service desks up to the hour the recent Eagles tickets went on sale.

Huh, I just assumed ticket lines were a thing of the past with ticket bastard and other automated systems to buy online and by phone.  I can't think where else there's still a Homeland other than 31st & Harvard.

I see in the morning world there are plenty of tickets available for sale through the regular channels.   If one has scalped tickets by three time their face value, if I were them I'd get some dark glasses and a long black wig and stay off the streets.
