Are Palin and McCain Liars?

During the build up of Palin as a family, values oriented candidate the rumor spread that her daughter may have been the real mother of Tryg. Now discredited with the news that her daughter is actually 5 months pregnant. But thats okay, "we're so proud she's going to keep the baby and marry the father". Like that's a path somehow different than others would take. Or, like her political ambition would dictate anything else.

Knowing the propensity for those around here who jump on poor parenthood as evidenced by teen pregnancy and underage drinking I was pretty surprised that they didn't hold Palin to that standard as well. Where was momma? Too much Alaska, too little family Palin?

But here's the real flash. Palin told everyone that her daughter had been away from school and visibility because...she had a bad case of mono nucleosis! That turns out to be well, A LIE. Unless she had mono at the same time she was pregnant which of course gives some defense. Defense like a spud gun at the OK corral.

And McCain was supposed to have known about the teen pregnancy. Cause he vetted her so well. Which means that when she told people that it was mono, Pappy must have known that was A LIE.

So, both lied to cover up a teen pregnancy which wasn't even that earth shaking for most of us but which might have been hard to swallow for the moralists in the big Republican tent.
We're not talking a mistake or resume puffing  here. They lied on their applications for employment.

So far the only issues have been judgement, experience and patriotism. Shouldn't lying be acknowledged and considered?

According to Time, the pregnancy was no secret in Wasilla.

Let me remind everybody what Whatever Waterboy wrote in another thread:

"You and the other repubs would do us all a favor by focussing on just why the McCain/Palin ticket is good for the country rather than attack Obama/Biden."

Waterboy's hypocrisy is boundless, and this post (and thread) is an example of this.
Someone get Hoss a pacifier.

I think the daughter's pregnancy is also an excuse for Palin to drop out.

Now that these many facts are coming out about her, the mom could say that her family comes first.

Then Karl Rove could say the mean democrats hate mothers.
Power is nothing till you use it.

I expected that reply. My hypocrisy is no less or greater than others. Were you one who criticized the parents of underage bar patrons downtown who ended up getting shot? Where are they now with their outrage and vitriol? I want others to realize that no one has total control over their teenage children and if they do its usually disastrous. We all face these problems and Palin apparently didn't until others forced her to.

None of you took me up on my offer of explaining just why Mc/Palin is good for the country. The deduction is that you cannot do so.

This is not a smear. This is behavior similar to the last two presidents who were impeached. And the current one who skated. Lying when the truth would have been less damaging. It goes to their Judgement in choosing a running mate that had more negatives than positives and Competence in not adequately preparing for the negatives.

You can attack me for pointing out the obvious, but I didn't expect any of you to do so.

It isn't a big deal and under other circumstances nobody's damn business. But she apparently lied about it and McCain covered. That's the problem.

Just stop it Waterboy. You sound absolutely ridiculous. This is about you telling us "repubs" not to attack Obama/Biden and instead focus on the quailities of our candidates, yet you turn right around and attack McCain and Palin, calling them liars. Yes, that speaks to the qualities of your candidates and not a presonal attack.

And trying to change the subject only makes you look worse on the subject--justifying your hypocracy because others may be hypocritical. You are becoming a joke.

Didn't Barack the Redeemer promise to abide by the Federal Presidential Election Campaign ceiling?

Then, decided NOT to abide?

Is that a lie?

Or, a Re-positioning?

Apparently, Barack the Redeemer supporters are mostly sore at the stunning selection of a attractive, dynamic, successful Republican Governor who also happens to be the mother of five.

Also, Waterboy must have no progeny.  Otherwise, he'd know that once puberty hits teenagers, parents can hope, pray, guide, sometimes influence, plead and coach, but can no longer CONTROL your own children.

They will experiment with drugs, alcohol, sex,  fast cars, and staying out late.  Most somehow make it safely to adulthood.

I guess he could just chain the children in the basement until they reach 21 so they'd be perfect.......

McCain's Democrat detractors would have preferred that he pick former life-long Democrate now "Independent" Joe Lieberman as his VP.

They are in mourning.

I fail to see how anyone lied.  Unless you were privvy to the vetting process, then your assertions are full of ****.  McCain says he was well-aware of this.

Anyone stupid enough to believe that neither Obama nor McCain would fully vet running mates should not be voting come November.

As Obama said:  Families are off-limits.  Democrats are incredibly desparate.  If it were the Dim VP candidate, Dims would be falling all over themselves about the "family values" in all this.

It's obvious you guys are running ****-less scared.

There's actually a good bit of reportage that she wasn't really vetted at all before this process began.  This includes a variety of reports of a Republican SWAT team of lawyers on the ground in Alaska, turning over stones frantically. But it also includes the amount of press coming out all in the last 24 hours or so talking about her secessionist affiliations, her abuse of power allegations -- and upcoming trial -- her daughter's teen pregnancy.

And really, ask yourself:  why would she be anywhere near the ticket if even one of these was true?  Each one is its own special kind of PR nightmare.  So either McCain didn't know about these problems or he didn't care.  And either way he's displaying some ****-poor judgment.

Cute cat. Don't like cats.

Really, I understand the anger. I felt it when Obama was called to task for his change from public to private financing which I felt was a wise financial decision. I felt it when the Obama's were attacked for supposed lack of patriotism. I even felt it when Clinton was impeached over a lie. Apparently lying is important to you folks. Just trying to help out.

I recommend you all cool down, go back and read my post.

Bear, I have three boys. You are posting exactly what I said so read my posts carefully. And Obama was called on his financing decision by opponents. Hiding her pregnancy was ludicrous and a departure from honesty. Where exactly did the mono story come from? Why was it perpetuated? Certainly it wasn't slippery Dems who had nothing to gain by it.

Conan, he said he knew about the pregnancy (after it was divulged in the press) Then why did he allow the mono story to be reported unchallenged? Why did she allow it to go unchallenged? Because she lied and he covered. Why did his vetting man report to Fox this am that he thinks there will be no more new surprises? Cause this was a surprise. Her separatist leanings were a surprise.

Guido, don't make it personal. What have I said that is untrue or hypocritical? This is the truth as I see it and I know most of us don't like truth. In spite of my pleadings on other threads, you and your buddies have not spent time touting your candidate but attacking Obama for no experience, no military service, no good judgement, religious affiliation and mispeaking. That's true. You expect it to not come back at you? You expect her Assemblies of God background won't be similarly attacked by others? If it hadn't been for the snarky remark that "we're proud she decided to keep it..." which was politically exploitive (so much for family business) it  never would have occurred to me that her mono grew into a pregnancy.

I knew it was going to be risky business to point out the obvious truth to you guys but unlike Mc/Palin I have little to lose. Its easy for me.

Sarah Palin wouldn't look like a patriot even if she was wearing a Tom Brady jersey.

Do you remember the terrible joke that John McCain used to tell about Chelsea Clinton when she was seventeen?

"The reason Chelsea is so ugly is that her father was Janet Reno."

I guess telling horrible jokes about your opponent's kids are OK, but not discussing an opponent's child's pregnancy is not.

No one has made jokes about the mother or the grandmother this time. There has only been discussion.
