His pick was impetuous.  He's thinking with his gut not his brain.  He's so much like Bush in this regard that it isn't even funny.

Any one of these issues would have made her a questionable choice:  she was an earmark-queen (before she wasn't)from a pork engorged state; a small-town mayor with recall problems; and a newbie governor under scrutiny for  abuse of power.  Now he's stuck with a person who isn't even allowed to answer questions.

Alaska is a pork-engorged STATE.

Thanks to long serving (and now Federally-indicted) GOP Senator Ted Stevens, and GOP Rep. Don Young.

Wish our Senators and Congressmen would steer some to Oklahoma.

It always seems to go elsewhere.

That bring the question:

WHAT do our Oklahoma Sinators and Representatives TRADE-AWAY in their little Favors-Trading Earmark Universe, and what does someone ELSE get in return?

Jesus was a community organizer.... Pontius Pilate was a governor.  [:D]

Ann Coulter has nothing in common with evangelicals other than her strident POLITICAL agenda which has no basis in reality.  Literally, Ann Coulter is a Godless conservative who just uses the Bible as a political tool...

Using your definition, FB, Sarah Palin is a MetroChamberPot for Wasilla, AK-- after all, she got an arena built and left the mayors office with HUGE DEBTS..... and as governor...

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/02/politics/washingtonpost/main4406403.shtml

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin employed a lobbying firm to secure almost $27 million in federal earmarks for a town of 6,700 residents while she was its mayor, according to an analysis by an independent government watchdog group.

There was $500,000 for a youth shelter, $1.9 million for a transportation hub, $900,000 for sewer repairs, and $15 million for a rail project -- all intended to benefit Palin's town, Wasilla, located about 45 miles north of Anchorage.

------------------------------------------------

In fiscal year 2002, Wasilla took in $6.1 million in earmarks -- about $1,000 in federal money for every resident. By contrast, Boise, Idaho -- which has more than 190,000 residents -- received $6.9 million in earmarks in fiscal 2008.

All told, Wasilla benefited from $26.9 million in earmarks in Palin's final four years in office.

"She certainly wasn't shy about putting the old-boy network to use to bring home millions of dollars," said Steve Ellis, vice president of Taxpayers for Common Sense. "She's a little more savvy to the ways of Washington than she's let on."

Palin didn't "take on" Stevens, she embraced him.  Her rise to prominence in Alaska politics was "earned" entirely from the clout she enjoyed as director of Ted "bridge to nowhere" Steven's 527 group.

She was FOR the bridge to nowhere before she was AGAINST it:

quote:
In 2006, Palin was asked, "Would you continue state funding for the proposed Knik Arm and Gravina Island bridges?" She responded, "Yes. I would like to see Alaska's infrastructure projects built sooner rather than later. The window is now--while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist." [Anchorage, 10/22/06, republished 08/29/08]

And, she gobbled up $27 million in federal earmarks to her hamlet of 6,700.  That's $4,000 per person in "free" gub'mnt money thanks to her insider dealings.  Goody for them.

She's exactly the kind of person you dislike, FB:  A hypocrite and a tax vampire.  And yet you defend her.  Is it your unhealthy obsession (read: racist) with Obama's skin tone, or did Palin bite you on the neck while you slept?

Wow, you kool-aid drinkers just crack me up.

Had this been done by a democrat, you'd be demonizing that person.  What a double standard.

Shifty, at best.

Sarah Palin:

quote:
"We need to come to the defense of Southeast Alaska when proposals are on the table like the bridge and not allow the spinmeisters to turn this project or any other into something that's so negative," Palin said.

The Gravina bridge proposal has been a priority of Govs. Frank Murkowski, Tony Knowles and previous governors as well as the Alaska Department of Transportation, said Palin.

Good Earmark?  Palin thought so.

RecycleMichael

Isn't it funny that Sarah Palin was the Queen of Earmarks and now she is campaigning against them?

It is no wonder she was so popular in Alaska. She hired a lobbyist for her small town so it could get millions in our tax dollars.

Oh, and the plane she said she sold on E-Bay? Turns out she sold it through a brokered deal using the republican leader of the state house of representatives. She also sold it to a campaign contributor for 25% less than the state paid for it.

Special deals for contributors then goes on national TV and lies about it...nothing new for the republicans here...
Power is nothing till you use it.
