North Tulsa v South Tulsa

Over the past three decades there has been a rumor that the dividing line between of the city has gone south.    At present the line between North Tulsa and South Tulsa is being established at 41st street.

The  merchants that once lined main street and first street are lining up along 71st street while  city government is trying to convert the north city into a entertainment Mecca with the "fields of dreams" illusions.

Is there anyone that can produce the average attendance to the ball games?

Having talked with persons who have attended the ball games on free tickets passed out by businesses, they say that from their observation the attendance seems about 600 but sure is less than a 1,000.

The north city didn't want the traffic caused by businesses so businesses moved south.

Now it seems instead of "Take me back to Tulsa" it should be "Take me back to north Tulsa".

Then also there is the "When Saturday comes rolling around, we get our pay and head for town".

Do you think we need more debts for our grandchildren to pay off?
Today we stand in ecstasy and view that we build today'
Tomorrow we will enter into the plea to have it torn away.

That may be true, as far as population figures are concerned, but the infrastructure of Tulsa extends just as far north of 41st street as it does south, if not greater.  I live at 26th St. south and Yale, and can remember the time when this area was considered the very far southeast reaches of the city.  I think Tulsa government made a very big mistake in 1966 when they annexed so much surrounding land and doubled the geographic area of town, sales tax issues and all considered; that is probably a main reason why the streets have deteriorated so much, we just bit off more than we could chew.
And I can't remember the last time I drove south of 51st street in Tulsa; I find all I need in "north Tulsa."

Shhhhhh, don't give away our secret of the easy life, low traffic, and less stress living in North Tulsa.

Had to do some business in south Tulsa, 71st and Riverside, late this afternoon and sat through 30 minutes of traffic light hell.

Most everything I need is within a 2 mile radius of my mid town location.

Just be thankful you didn't have to go through 71st & Mingo, dude.  THAT is traffic hell central.

Nice to meet you today.  Sorry I never got over to say hi to Harpo (Rick).

Back at you at glad to meet folks from T-Town Now forum.  Had fun at lunch, a much less stressful lunch-time for me has not been had in a while.

E-Gads, you had to remind me I must travel to 61st and Mingo in the morning to obtain an errant package from the "can't find many addresses in North Tulsa" UPS folks.

If it were not the wrist bands for this weekends Bike Rally and Races I would leave it till next week.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't I see a report on Fox 23 about how they had set the traffic light timers from Garnett to Memorial on 71st to speed up the flow of traffic going East and West ? The last time I traveled that stretch of road I caught almost every Red light available per what seems to be half a block.
Changing opinions one mistake at a time.

It's a feng shui thing.  South Tulsa has bad chi.  Something about the energy being trapped in all those gated communities and cul-de-sacs...bouncing off the walls of big box churches and mega stores...I think it makes people cranky.

I've actually thought that myself while being stuck in traffic.  The mindlessness of sports talk radio started to make more sense and I had a strange craving for chain restaurants.  That ain't livin' out there

cannon_fodder

Gold,

If talk radio started making sense it wasn't being stuck in traffic or the bad chi... you were probably drunk.

Oh, I was stone cold sober.  Doing some work, in fact.

Sober and working?

I am sorry to hear that.[:)]

Since when did North Tulsa start at 41st street?  That is the most idiotic thing I've read today.  Tulsa is divided into 5 parts.  North, South, East, West and midtown/downtown.  The way I see it, North Tulsa starts at Admiral.

Shadows and Bear are the only people I've ever heard say that North Tulsa starts at 41st.

I suppose if you live at 121st and memorial (excuse me, South County *chuckle*), 41st street can *seem* north.  However, that logic hints at an overly ego-centric and narcissistic attitude.  I live in Oklahoma and Barbados might seem like a whole lotta south to me.  In reality it is in the midtown of the earth (near the equator).  *sigh*
