I am going to try and go in on Monday and see the Chiro RecycleMichael referred me to in a PM.

I could operate if you need it. I have a sharp pocket knife and have been reading some blogs about surgery.

I can't prescribe pain medicine but I have a bottle of expensive tequila and a small rubber mallet. I feel pretty sure one of them will knock you out.

I hope this is not an indication of how your Chiro works lol. Although, when I am in the full throws of head and neck pain, I would probably say bring it on lol.

This may sound stupid (I know coming from me what usually isn't) but have you checked the maxillofacial lymph nodes for swelling?  The reason I ask this is because when I was younger I had the same symptoms you're describing and it took a day or more for me to realize that the lymph nodes just under the ears in the area where the jaw and neck converge were swollen to the size of large eggs.  This created quite a pain in my neck that mimicked stiffness early in the AM and got somewhat worse as the day progressed.  I was about 19 when all this happened.

Turned out after going to my DO on day three of this (happened around the weekend so I had little choice really) and two diagnoses later, I had mononucleosis.  I was down for three weeks and lost about 25 pounds from it.

Its the muscles on the back of my neck. Mostly right where the muscles attach to the back of the skull but I can touch the muscles when I am really hurting and the soreness runs down the entire back of my neck muscles. The muscles are tender. Basically it seems like they cramp and tense up, just like when you get a muscle cramp in your leg or side. You may not think it would cause a bad headache but its centralized right at the back of the skull where the muscles attach and you can feel that little cranial bump rigt at the center of the back of the skull. The soreness radiates out from that point.

Right here lol

I know this is an advert but have run across several different things that point out similar notions. That the muscles at the back of the neck and shoulders can indeed cause headaches.

^ I see what the problem is: you are missing your skin. Put your skin back on and you should begin to feel better.

Pains in the neck?  I thought you were talking about some of the people who post on this forum!

Went to the chiropractor today. Had some x-rays taken and sure enough you could see where things were a bit off kilter. Ok, basically my head wasnt attached to my neck properly lol. I am sure everyone would have said I didnt need an x-ray to have been told that lol. Also one of my vertebra was "shimmed?" dont know if that was the word he used or not but it was tilted to one side and all the other vertebra underneath it were then curved a little versus straight. What was causing the pain was the upper area where my head and neck join. There was all kinds of other explanations and such that I vaguely remember. Something about muscles and pinched nerves, Yada yada yada.

They stuck some strange electrical pad things on my back and shoulder and I laid there while my back muscles spasmed around a bit. That was "therapy". Then I went and had my back and neck popped and put back into place. Have never done that before. Was king of creepy. All that snapping and popping was nerve wracking. Kept thinking about the things I had read where people had ended up being paralyzed from the neck down,,, 1 in 10,000 odds of that happening I think. But every time I had something snapped back into place I would wiggled my toes just to make sure I wasnt going to end up in a wheelchair.

I do feel better though. Kind of felt like a weight was taken off my shoulders. Actually felt, lighter somehow. I dont know, but anywoo the doctor said I should probably not go to the gym for a few weeks but come in a couple of times a week until my back and neck adjust and settle in to being in their new positions lol.

Did go back and paint on the ceiling today though. Kind of had to since I am taking tomorrow off to do the planiTulsa thing. Little sore from that, but not the same kind of pain like I have had before.

Painting like you do upside down sort to speak must indeed put alot of strain on the neck area. I would take a work break for a week or so and give everything a chance to get better.

I've done the chiropractor thing in the past, and while it made me feel better in the short term, I never felt like it solved the problem. (One quack of a chiropractor actually re-injured my lower back with some of his over-zealous gyrations.)

When it comes down to it, I think that your muscles, tendons and ligaments are in charge of your skeleton...so the solution is strengthening what's weak and stretching what's tight...and correcting any bad work habits you have (like the way I'm sitting right now while I type!).

Over the years, I've become a huge fan of physical therapy over chiropractors.  Just my 2 cents.

Yep.  My chiro has always stressed PT and strength exercizes at home.  Problem is I usually flaunt his recommendations.  The muscular aspect you mention is the reason he added a deep tissue specialist- another lic. chiro, but his specialty is deep tissue.  Little different regimen for me this time.

It's unfortunate there are total frauds which give the rest a bad name.

I have definitely been trying to sit straight and watch my posture more. Especially that first day after the chiro, did not want anything to pop back out of place lol. I havent had one of those headaches again yet. Should finish that ceiling today and wont have any more for a little while. Have actually been thinking of taking yoga classes. I could use a way to relax and destress, but also stretch, exercise, and pay attention to balance, form, my "self" in general. I can tend to be go, go, go, and forget to just calm down and relaaaax, look around and breathe lol. Its gonna take a lot of work for me to get into that habit, but I think I need to.
