The Sheridan crossing is more of a pain, thanks to the lack of a traffic light there. Memorial can be a long wait if you are the sort not to cross against the light when traffic clears.
I disagree. I've never had problems on the trail at Sheridan....or even at Mingo. It's Yale and Memorial that I have the worst problems at simply because of the stop lights.

1. It backs traffic up which results in traffic always being there.
2. People don't look when they are traveling northbound on Yale and Sheridan to make right turns to get onto the highway on-ramp (same goes with those turning southbound off of the ramp). At least with continuously moving traffic (i.e. Mingo and Sheridan), people are more predictable.
3. These same people don't slow down when they see a red light. They assume that no one is coming and continue their speed to make their right turn.

I know its kinda ironic. You'd figure that stoplights would help, but everyone has to do their part if you want that kind of a system to work. Our endless number of "two lanes merging into one" arterials has conditioned Tulsa drivers to become anxious drivers...

Perhaps it's just the time of day I've been on the trail at Yale, but I haven't had an issue there. Right turners stop. Even the few times I was out there during rush hour. (at which time Sheridan was nearly uncrossable)

At Memorial, the traffic is much worse, thus the wait times are longer, but I've never had much of an issue with right turners trying to hit me. They'll sometimes make their turn if I'm just departing the median, but they've got plenty of time to make their move without causing me an issue and the next person always stops.

I have more problems with people exiting the highway than people getting on. At Memorial and at 91st/169 both people have convinced me they were trying to run me over.  :o

I like to avoid trails that cross streets, stopping for traffic ruins my pace & time. I just finished a 4 mile run on the Heritage Bikeway Trail, I'm a bit rusty from not running much during the long & bitter cold winter we had. It felt good to get back into the swing of things, the trail was pretty busy lots of runners out, a few rollerbladers and alot of bike riders... I can't run good when it's cold. With this warmer weather I need to keep training and work on my speed. We are near 70 degrees. :D

I won't be doing the Saturday event because my training's telling me I need 10 miles, not 5k.  I'm considering running the Fleet Feet St. Patrick's Run on Monday evening.

The OKC half marathon, at the end of April.  We'll see how the training shapes up, though.  I've got a lot of competing responsibilities right now  ;D

We are having two St. Patrick's Day races, both are 5K's one is at Flannagans at 8am the other is at a Hooters at 7:pm.. Both cost $29.00 to enter and $35.00 on race day. The top 3 finishers win a plaque, the next first 75 finishers win a mug & tee shirt. (75 Male & female) There is no age bracket timing everyone is racing against each other. www.ultrafit-usa.com  :D

The Casino is paying to "re-route" the jogging trail to the river/behind the parking lot and structures.

What is the timetable for rerouting the trail, after all of their construction is complete?  That will be REALLY nice.  Now we just need a trail from 71st to Riverwalk Crossing on the west bank.

Also I like the KATY trail but would also someday like to see the river trail extended from 11th/SW Blvd. along the north bank of the river to Hwy. 97.  Would it ever be possible to build a biking/jogging trail on top of the levee?

Not certain about the time table on the re-route around the casino, but I think there were plans to incorporate a boardwalk with the hotel.

Maybe you already know this, but if you cross 11th St Northbound you can take the trail up through Crosbie Heights and around Newblock park towards Sand Springs. Is this considered the "Katie Trail"?

I figured the casino would have a covered bridge where you could drop some coin as you jog by?

I might actually start to jog if they had that. . . with a bar of course.

Another "toll road"?  A pike pass on your bicycle or jogging shorts?  I could go along with a 2 drink minimum to cross the bridge.

Tried out the newly opened section of trail on my run today...from the Pedestrian Bridge to the 41st park/playground. I was pleasantly surprised to see they've added a narrow running lane (about 2 feet wide) of the pea gravel/chat mix or whatever it is...along side of the main asphalt trail. Runs from the Crow Creek Bridge to 41st Street. Great for us runners that like a little "softer" surface.

Hopefully they'll continue it on south.
