What is City Hall now

As the Admin is aware there is more confusion in existence in the political system of Tulsa than has been in my over ¾ of a century as a native born citizen.

The two questions that prevail unanswered are the World published on Friday 9/3 quote: "CITY ASKS BOK FOR CITY HALL SIGN RIGHT".  By even by the simplest of governments regulations this statement is an acknowledgement that when governments of the people"  are being changed to 'people of government?"

Is the City Hall to be a subsidiary or extension of  the BOK/Mayor offices where the citizens must go through the councilors in order to place identifying signs on the BOK controlled city hall?

(As quoted in same article "......City to buy building at no additional cost to the taxpayers.) Was it not the intent of the founders of the county that city charter issues was not a for profit venture, thus all moneys are derived from taxes (including the regressive sales taxes where the working poor pay the greater part of their income) are collected and become public funds?

Is the new protocol at city hall now "Don't bother us just send us your bank account number and we will take the money for your  bills out of you bank account?"

Did not the Randy/Sally vote tally indicated the citizens want their promised rights back?
Today we stand in ecstasy and view that we build today'
Tomorrow we will enter into the plea to have it torn away.

I warned everyone that this city hall move was a complete and utter boondoggle. Time and again the selling points made by those pushing this swindle have turned out to be total fabrications. More  lies will be exposed including the hype about lowering the operating costs of city government by being in the new building. Just wait.

Double A- Did I dream this or wasn't part of the promise of the move to OneTech that ALL city offices would be consolidated, INCLUDING  the engineering department over at 23rd & Jackson.  As well, equipment maintenance was supposedly going to move to the old Tulsa Tech Center at the Downtown Airpark adjacent to the Osage Casino?

I swear that was part of the promise, and seems to me that part of the bogus promises in the River Tax last year was turning the M&E facility into a M.U.D. along with the concrete plant.  There was so much BS pumped in that deal I can't even keep track of all of it.

Do I recall different than others on this?

Did you see the story in the Tulsa World a while back that laid out each floor?  Did you notice that Kathy Taylor's office is separated from the rest of city government by three floors of private renters?

I believe people are motivated by very simple gut level kind of instincts.  Later on we find the rationalizations that support that first impulse.

Kathy Taylor lives in the largest and one of the fanciest houses in Tulsa.

I honestly believe the city hall move was all about Kathy Taylor being able to look out of her top floor office from one of the best maintained corporate buildings in Tulsa.

All of the rationalizations came later.

In the process 40 some odd years of investment in Tulsa's historic civic center were thrown away.

Oh well, we now have a lovely corporate building in the best part of downtown.  What we don't have is a proper City Hall.  And civic center doesn't have its primary tenant.

How many times do you think the open meetings act will be broken on the 15th floor and maybe even the elevator?

Lest we forget that Taylor the Tyrant is sharing the floor not with the Council offices as promised, but with BOK. Ya know, the folks that administer the masser lease agreement and so far the only tenants they have leased to is themselves.

wasn't there some kind of reprecussion if no one filled in the space?  I thought it was a condition of the move that X number of tenants had to be found.

Wow, this was all totally unforseen...

Do you have any recollection of their promise with the M & E center on the west bank or did I just make that one up?

Answer to own question:

Jones Lang Lasalle has it listed on their web site- 41 acres.

http://tulsalandopportunities.com/property5.html

There are five TDA/COT parcels listed with JLL, this along with the old city hall and nine parcels in east village.

Double A, I really hate it when you make me agree with you 100%.

This move did not make fiscal sense, even by the cities admission, unless they leased the space and found uses for their other properties.  Thus far, they have not leased the space and I am not aware of any city property deals being struck.

The building is less convenient, less public, and arguably gives the wrong impression (it is not a public building, it is a city owned building administered by a private entity with restricted areas and no signage).   It doesn't make financial sense.  The deal was rushed.

What has it gained us?

I'm waiting for the Mayor to say that it has lost us money because of "unforeseen economic circumstances" that have put a damper on real estate.  Which, of course, is why governments general try to stay away from such deals.  "Unforeseen circumstances" are, ironically, a certainty in such deals.  If they weren't, someone else would have bought the damn building.

Well we could admit it was a mistake.  Wouldn't that be the day.

and

Keep the city's back offices in One Technology Center and restore the Former City Hall together with Civic Center Plaza and improve its security and move the city's executives and folks that deal with the public back to the restored Former City Hall.  Keep the council chambers.

But I'm not holding my breath and I don't want to dedicate the rest of my life to the effort.  But someone should.

Not a bad idea, but where would that money come from? More taxes? Not gonna happen. I gather the building is empty and deteriorating from lack of daily maintenance. Maybe it would make a good city jail.
