Channel 23, on the 9; 00 0'cLOCK NEWS Tuesday night, had a lengthily clip on the alarming increase of the sales of assault riffles.

The intent could have been an attempt to intimidate the voters by recalling the civil war between The United States of the North and the United States of the South both with separate governments, which some 25% of the participants were casualties.  At present we are trying to right the abuse created as an after mat of our history that is an embarrassment today in Tulsa.

Should we allow such clips to determine by immature fancies such suggestions to be determined by race, the edibility of a person to be president?

Does one feel the availability of assault rifles channel our security to a single path of rebellion to be curbed now?.

Or is the time chosen for total gun control?

Today we stand in ecstasy and view that we build today'
Tomorrow we will enter into the plea to have it torn away.

Just bitter Americans clinging to their guns and religion.  Besides, semi-automatics are a total gas to shoot.

Channel 6 ran a similar story this morning.  They interviewed the owners of Medlock Firearms and they said people are as leery of McCain on gun policy as Obama.  Personally, I don't get that angle, but whatever.

I'm willing to bet the Wanenmacher gun show next weekend will probably have record sales.

I call BS... I doubt that "Assault Rifles" are being sold, since they have been illegal since the National Firearms Act in 1934, and requires a Class "C" license to possess. What they are referring to are mis-named "Assault Weapons" in which the only difference between them and hunting rifles are how "scary" they look and accessories.

Good call juan.  The "assault weapons ban" literally classified weapons by how many "evil" features they had.  It really had little to do with capability.  A pistol grip, threaded barrel, high capacity magazine, bayonet lug, folding stock... I can't remember them all now.  It really was about what made a firearm "look" dangerous.  Certainly a semi automatic shotgun, a mini-14 (always in full compliance), or a C&R M1 Garand could do as much, and often more, damage than the vast majority of banned weapons.  But damnit, they don't look as scary.

I'm not really sure what you are getting at Shadows (as usual), if you are asking if more assault rifles are being sold because there will be a rebellion if Barrack Obama is elected - the answer is no.  Should we ban more firearms?  No.  Total gun control?  Hell no.

Really it is simple, when Democrats are in office a new "assault weapons ban" will probably be put in place.  The result is to make assault weapons more expensive (and no, none, ZERO effect on crime).  Thus, people are buying them now to either save money on their purchase or to profit on the resale later.

When the first one went into place I sold 4 AK-47's I purchased for $185 each for $350 each.  I used the profit to purchase a brand new Romanian SAR (7.62x39) when the ban was lifted.  I also held an importers license and imported a good number of exempt rifles during that time (a dozen at a time via NATO member Turkey - Mausers, Garands, etc.).  So I'd like to thank Bill Clinton for completely paying for my weapons collection.

The best way to punish gun makers/importers/sellers is to increase the price of their products.  [;)]

So economics is driving the increased sale of assault weapons, not a desire for armed rebellion.

My "shadows decoder ring" didn't come with instructions so here is the two translations I came up with:

1. Fox23 is running a story to call "the south" into an uprising against "the north" (Obama Supporters) and help get McCain Elected.

2. Beaver whistle tombstone. The Nachos run with spatulas.

hey, the rooftop voters have to get a say too!

Oh, it was assault riffles. That is different.

According to wikipedia...A riffle (also known as a swift) is a shallow stretch of a river or stream, where the current is above the average stream velocity and where the water forms small rippled waves as a result. It often consists of a rocky bed of gravels or other small stones. This portion of a stream is often an important habitat for small aquatic invertebrates and juvenile fishes.

This seems to be a stupid thing to assault someone with.

Maybe shadows was talking about the amount of salt in our river. That makes more sense.

What did sodium have chloride arrested for?
Assault.
Power is nothing till you use it.

That was the winner for me.  Not to be harsh Shadows, but can you really read that statement and get meaning?

Personally, if I was choosing a president just on the edibility, I would choose McCain.  Honestly, I live chocolate but I think it's over rated.  Why is vanilla such a "plain" flavor.  It has as much merit as chocolate.

If it wasn't meant as a metaphor, I'd choose Obama.  McCain is certainly to old.  His meat would be grizzly and lanky.

Of course, the passage above illustrates a tenancy to forget articles.  Perhaps the outcome was to be determined by "a race" and not by just race.  In which case Obama clearly has an advantage because he's, ahhh, he has longer legs.

The 7.54 x 39 round through an M-44 or your 8mm Turkish Mauser will do a lot more damage than the AR-15, but it sure is fun to squeeze off 30 rounds as fast as your finger will allow.

BTW- your analysis is spot-on.

It's true.  I have a lot of issues I need to work through.  Not sure I should be armed when I do, though.  I don't want to exercize my rights so hard I get a sprain.

I think you are confusing your calibers.

Nice catch, meant 7.62 x 54 in the M-44.

The M-44 did come chambered in a 7.62x39mm, though the 7.62x54 was MUCH more popular as the 39 was a rechamber.  There is much cross over between the AK and the M-44 as far as caliber - Kalashnikov merely chopped down the round to make his design initially and now the AK being more popularly manufacturing in the 54 (for military use).

BUT, his point was the M-44 is a bolt action rifle that would do more damage than his AR, but not nearly as much damage as my 8mm Mauser.  And nearly every rifle will do more damage than the 5.56 AR.  Thus, the "evil" assault rifle thing is a joke.

I need to shoot something.
