Georgianna Oliver.... I don't think I can do it

I think John Sullivan is one of the worst politicians to ever hold office in Oklahoma. I'v known him personally for over twenty years, and consider him a fun "dude" to hang out with, but his intelligence equals that of David Walters.

Last night I watched channel 6 ask the candidates a question regarding how low the campaigns had sunk with negativity. John's answer was basically "she started it" which, if you look at the time frame it is probably true. No biggie though, his "we're not for sale" ads are pretty stupid. Georgianna's turn and her answer "It's been entertaining" along with a cackle. She also started talking about she wished she had never run for office etc. etc. My jaw hit the floor. Her tact was awful and she just seemed completely ignorant. It was really pathetic.

I have never voted for John Sullivan. I have always backed his opponents and encouraged others to do the same but at this point I am going to have to take a big bite of a sh*t sandwich and vote for him.

This election year is taking a toll on me.

I think you and I have established we know Sully from the old days.  Back then, I'm sure he would have let the air out of her tires and beaten up her BF in retaliation.

I'd changed my vote to Oliver, but after hearing about her Gene Stipe-style campaign financing, I don't think I can vote for her in good conscience.

Sullivan has his special interests, but there is zero doubt she's bringing her own special interests with her, if elected.

Our district has a history of continuing to return incumbents until they are ready to move on to something else.  I'm not sure I'm ready to have Oliver as our rep for the next 10, 12 or how many years she cares to stay there.

Not to get too personal, but is the gentleman in the photo with her on her website her dad or her husband?  He looks like he could be one of McCain's drinking buddies.

Hometown

Because Sullivan has trampled all over innocent people to advance his career -- he is my enemy.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

I've got an Oliver sign in my yard and my household will gladly cast votes for her.

It is a tough choice. She hasnt' established herself well here. He sent me a large despicable flyer whose only truth lay in the spelling of his name.

My only tipping point is that those who know or have served Sullivan and his family are deadset against him. A young man who I know served his family at a restaurant. The kids were messy, obnoxious and unrestrained, the group was demanding and THEY DIDN'T EVEN TIP!!

Advantage Oliver. We can vote her out later when someone better comes along.

I vote by looks. I'm voting for Oliver.

I have worked with Georgianna for a while discussing environmental issues and I am impressed with her. I have had ten meetings with her, discussing green collar job creation, refinery and energy issues, and alternative solutions for waste disposal and power. She asks good questions, is willing to listen. I think she sincerely wants to go to Washington to really make a difference.

I also know John Sullivan from way back, back before he ever ran for his first public office. He is likable and support recycling efforts. But he has had seven years in Washington and I can only name one thing he has done for us.

It is time to give someone else a chance.
Power is nothing till you use it.

If this election has tought me anything, is that we aren't going to get to vote on our "ideal candidates" this year. We have experienced, corrupt career politicians challenged by inexperienced people with a tendency to stumble out of the gate. Almost every politician running has issued a loan to their campaign form themselves or their business. Oliver is the only candidate taken to task over it. She sold a new software package and support staff to another company that is just started (the website for the program isn't even built yet) but yet people who don't understand intellectual property are screaming "why didn't she list it as an asset before."

Yes, much of Oliver's campaign is "i'm not Sullivan" but that does attract a large number of voters, especially given the fact he won't debate and keeps shoveling ridiculous statements out the door through flyers and commercials. He's lived in DC for 14 years and criticized Oliver for living there for five (all the while she never really left Tulsa since her business still had a major office here the whole time. Little things get to me and Sullivan's recent air mattress commercial was too ridiculous for me to vote for him for any office.

Gawd I hate to sound like I'm defening Sully, but:

He's been in DC 7 years, not 7 terms and he's been there because we voted for him to be there.  John was living in the district when we first voted him in and had lived there all his life, that I'm aware of (with the exception of school, possibly).

Oliver sold her company to campaign donors from out of state.  She suddenly got interested in Oklahoma Dist. 1 politics less than a year ago and seems to have a lot of out of state donors interested in seeing her get into office.  This company "sale" is real fishy.

You're worried about special interest money going to oliver when she only raised about $100,000 from donors and Sullivan has something like $2.7M?

Conan71

Make that $500K from donors Grizz....

I wanted to vote Sullivan out, but I think she may have even less integrity than he does, if that's possible.

Her total contirubtions listed in the world was a little over $500K and then they said $400K of her donations were loans to her campaign from evergreen.

Maybe I'm missing something, but 500 minus 400 used to equal 100.

I don't think I can vote for attack-o-matic.

The best thing is to vote incumbents out.  She wants a short ride, give her one NEXT cycle but in the meantime vote for change.

So Mr. Air-Mattress cannot afford a decent place to rent in DC? Huh.  Wonder where his staff stays? Under a bridge? Sounds like someone is not so much watching pennies as is unable to budget creatively.  But hey, he is the best we can do!  Reward that kind of galling stupidity, people, have at it!

He said he doesn't rent an apartment, he is likely staying at a hotel instead.
