you are right, I don't want to take your job.

Come on, inteller!

You can think of one positive thing...try hard.

Close your eyes and think of that one day, years ago, when you had a brief moment of happiness.

Surely once, a meal you ate at a local restaurant made you pleased...a local elected official said or did something you liked...something...
Power is nothing till you use it.

**intro music**

Stadiums on tax dollars and lies from politicians.
Urban renewal and a town  full of Christians.
People I don't like not tied up with string...
These are Inteller's least favorite things!

Tax money for fair grounds and restaurants that don't fail,
Street work that doesn't include my own trail.
Communities not gated and the crime that it brings...
These are Inteller's least favorite things!

No nightlife no culture and no decent bar,
Oil companies that threaten to move very far.
Crappy music venues that don't play my King...
These are Inteller's least favorite things!

When his wife bites,
The economy stings,
When he's feeeeeeling sad,
He simply laments on these various things...
And then he... still feeeeels, reallllllll bad.

Great job,

But you forgot downtown and Super Target.

We need a new verse by someone less musically challenged.

There were only three verses and nothing rhymes with Super Target.  You thought I could work in all his angst in my 5 minute project?  Bah!  I was happy I rhymed politicians and Christians.  [^]

Does this sound like Inteller or not?

You know at least one negative person in your life, as do I, for the sake of this article
we'll call him Joe. You wake up, and the sun is shining, the birds are singing and life is good! Oops you bump into Joe. Joe is a negative person. He is the one that walks around with a black cloud hovering over his head.

Here's the conversation...

"Hey Joe great day isn't it?

Joe: "Not really."

"So what's wrong?"

Joe: "I didn't pay my stupid water bill and they caught my water off."

"Wow, bummer! Why didn't you pay it?"

Joe: "Well I thought I'd pay it Friday, but I was too tired and didn't feel like running down there. I didn't think they would really turn it off."

Yea! Joe buddy, when they say they will turn it off, they will turn it off."

Joe: "Those stupid &ons a &itches. Their all out to get ya."

"Hey Joe! I hear there is a real hottie that moved in next door to you!"

Joe: "Like she'd even look my direction."

"Hey, I hear you are in the Lotto drawing for your share of a big million!"

Joe: "Yea, my luck I'll win the big money and then the blood sucking tax people will get it all."

"So how's that new job going I heard you were making twice as much now?"

Joe: "Not so good, the hours are long and they expect so much out of me."

Joe: "So I hear you got a new girlfriend?"

"Yep, she is a doll, I think this is the one."

Joe" "Yea, she'll probably end up ripping your heart out."

"Well, gee Joe it was great talking to you have a great day."

Joe: Yea, Yea, you do the same. Next time I see you you'll be with some new girl after this one cheats on you."

"Gee-sh, does Joe know something I don't? Maybe I should break up with her now."

A negative person tends only to see just that...the negative. It doesn't matter how great the experience or how wonderful the life event; they can not see beyond the black cloud that surrounds them. http://www.helium.com/items/952769-identifying-and-dealing-with-negative-people

The negative person is defined as someone who is habitually depressed, pessimistic and contemptuous. It would matter not, where, who and what this person encounters, they will at all times be negative. I refer to this static state of negativity, as a "chronic" persona for the very reason the person who possesses such traits is inexorable because in most cases they fail to identify their negative behavior. Often they diffuse or displace their actions and blame others for their problems and negative outlook. One cannot impress on another to alter the way they are the person has to first become aware of their impact on others and themselves before they can allow that change to occur.

Case in point, I have known someone who often complain and is extremely negative in everything they say or do. Yet the person is unable to identify their own issues instead transfer blame to others. This individual feels and believes they alone has to burden trials and tribulations and no matter what advise this person receives, their behavior is often deflected off of their perception and belief system. As long as this person continues to believe there are no solutions to the problems and not seeking the support necessary to move forward, their quality of life will continue to endure negativity.

The above example illustrates once the perception appears real coupled with unawareness of the problem then there is no opportunity to impress on someone to alter their cognitive thinking and actions. They themselves have to begin to do this for long-term success and improved quality of life.

It should be noted there is a difference between someone who is "Chronic" and someone who is having a rough day, rampant hormones, and a specific problem, which brings about a solemn mood for the short term. Short term would be defined as a week; month or a few days however, if the person notices their mood is consistent over an indefinite period of time then seek professional assistance. In most cases a visit to the family doctor will put things into perspective or they can provide further resources for support. http://www.helium.com/items/805073-identifying-and-dealing-with-negative-people

Attitude is contagious- is yours worth catching?

The vacuous nature of negativity is its impulsive desire to be all-consuming. Worst yet, it is able to destroy relationships and undermine values, self-esteem and integrity. Why is it that some people would rather subscribe to such demeaning behavior and in turn constrict and intimidate others? Is it out of choice- a simple desire to spread caustic purpose? Or can it be written off to human fallibility- a weakness trait that is able to be corrected via a conscious assertion to "staying on the straight and narrow"? Nevertheless, living with and tolerating negativity can be as destructive as the behavior itself.

Cynicism and general melancholy is instigated by insecurity and a lack of self-esteem. Negative people often pay forward their gloom by ignoring regard for others and instead, focus of emotional manipulation. It can be frustrating, to say the least, recognizing that you're in the company of a depressing energy threatening to sap you of your vigor. However, if you're able to comprehend the warning signs and counter them efficiently you may avoid becoming a statistic:

It is important to remember that negative people often deflect their unhappiness on others, just for the sake of imprudence. In saying as much, minimize interaction so as to maintain your equanimity. If the relationship threatens to turn gangrenous, rather consider what the benefits would be to you if such a parasitic association continues.

What is a toxic person? Unfortunately, they may be all around you, or even worse, you may be one. Toxic people consistently drag others down, making people feel worse about themselves for apparently no other reason than the satisfaction of doing so, and they may be overly needy, not caring about anyone other than themselves.

The first question to ask yourself is - do I make others feel better or worse after spending time with them? You might also turn it around and ask the same question regarding friends, family, and others in your life. How do you feel after being with certain individuals? If you find you have always felt worse, then it may be you know someone with a toxic personality.

The foul moods such people experience can have a profound impact on their mental processes, other research suggests. For example, simply reading about positive or negative events has been shown to evoke a strong enough mood to color people's judgments, according to Gordon Bower, a psychologist at Stanford University who has done research on mood and decision-making.

''Your mood has a direct effect on which information you bring to mind to make a judgment,'' Dr. Bower said in an interview. ''For example, if you're thinking of a major failure in your life, you'll more easily bring to mind other failures. Likewise with successes. The prevalence in your immediate memory of one kind of experience or another will influence your decisions, particularly snap judgments.''

''Memory seems mood-dependent: If the mood is negative, there is a higher availability of negative memories,'' he continued. ''And the effect of a mood is quite general - you may be remembering a romantic disappointment, which puts you in a bad mood. If you're asked to judge the likelihood of events far removed from romance - such as the likelihood of someone soon discovering a cure for cancer - you'll be more likely to give a pessimistic estimate. Since you retrieve items from memory that are congruent with your mood, a bad mood makes it easier to recall facts that give you a negative slant, while a happy mood puts everything in a positive light.''

Happines is associated most heavily with the left (i.e. logical) side of the brain, while anger is associated with the right (emotional, non-logical) side of the brain. From a Society for Neuroscience article on Bliss and the Brain:

"Furthermore, studies suggest that certain people's ability to see life through rose-colored glasses links to a heightened left-sided brain function. A scrutiny of brain activity indicates that individuals with natural positive dispositions have trumped up activity in the left prefrontal cortex compared with their more negative counterparts. "

In other words, HAPPY PEOPLE ARE BETTER ABLE TO THINK LOGICALLY. (Thats not you Inteller)lol http://headrush.typepad.com/creating_passionate_users/2006/04/angrynegative_p.html

One other theory that I read recently about the Intellers of the world. They can be miserable and lonely and people responding to their negativity helps take some of that away. Sadly any attention is a further positive reinforcement for their behavior. And so on it goes.  Bet Inteller must be getting quite a rush at this thread lol.

I wonder why you got to be so special as to get all them to pick on you?

Maybe because not only has all the AMTrack stuff died but so did the Tulsa monorail...

You think they realized that if NYC couldn't do it without a lot of public funding no one could...
Or you think that they are re-fascinated with cheap gas?

http://wcbstv.com/local/mta.subway.budget.2.867883.html

inteller

oh yeah, the public has no one to blame but themselves if they are lulled back into complacency with cheap gas.  I'm already seeing it.....more huge tanks back on the road.  It has helped traffic flow though, people are back to driving 80 again so I can actually get somewhere now.

cannon_fodder

inteller, I wasn't trying to pick on you.  50% joking around and 50% really wanting to see a positive statement from you.

Failing to give even one positive statement about Tulsa kind of negates all the criticism you have.  If a person finds nothing positive to say about an entire city, they are clearly biased or close minded.  I figured you would say some kind tidbit and we'd all laugh... I really didn't think you'd refuse to say one nice thing about your town.

But we all laughed anyway.  It's amusing to you per your post, and the view count ticks up so it's amusing to other people.  Seems like all is well.

Indeed, people cant help but be intrigued by such a sick individual and the possibility of redemption. Perhaps this Christmas, Inteller Scrooge will be visited by the ghosts of TN past, present, and future. He will see the folly of his ways and emerge a jolly figure, full of light, frivolity and merriment. [:D]

I appreciate inteller: he is consistently snarky and usually his snark is amusing.
