I'm also looking for a great family dentist. The dentist needs to be thorough  and  takes time to explain and answer every question. I as well as my husband and son need to feel comfortable and safe knowing I'm in the best care. Provide several options including self dental care first(home remedy routine) no procedures unless necessary and must have reasonable rates, payment plan would be great. I don't want someone going dental happy on my mouth, overworking, doing unnecessary work and charging me every little thing. Especially being a new patient and the way the economy is right now. I'm hoping someone can provide me with a couple of names.
Thanks,
Sally

Sounds like my old dentist, I found out they were doing (or they wanted to do) alot of work that I did not need, but the work they did do was done good. When I lost a filling last year I shopped around for a new dentist, one place wanted to pull the tooth and give me a part-denture and said I also needed $4,000 in dental work, and if I put it off that bill could rise to $8,000. I went to another dentist and he said that my lost filling could be fixed with a tooth build-up and cap, the tooth was not beyond hope like what the other dentist told me, and two other teeth just needed fillings no caps no root canels - that total bill was around $1,000.00. I dunno if I can name the places here on the forum or not so I won't, but both places are big chain dental centers. It seems many dental places like to do work that is not needed, some dentists say things like a filling is leaking when it's not and want to replace that filling before decay sets in, like what happened to my girlfriend.. Happy shopping around. 8)
