Yes, they are transitioning everyone over, except for the personalized plates. Time to head on down to the tag office and register your "SP8NKME" plate.

I don't like how they're handling things though.
I bought a new (used) truck in november and when I went to get a tag they had me pay the new sale/title transfer whatever tax but only like $6 for a tag because they would only sell me a tag good until january. They said I have to go back in january and pay for a whole year. And I may have heard this wrong but pay also $15 for the new tag.

Are they forcing people to pay $15 extra for renewal just so everyone can have the same tag?

I still see cars every once in a while with the 80s style setting sun tag or the even older plain green letters on white tag with no picture or design.

That sounds about right with that transfer system many states do it like that, Ohio is letting us keep our old tags (if we want) and just buy  a re-newal sticker every year, they also allow for a 2-year re-newal sticker at double the price of course. If you want a new tag you have to pay extra for it, I don't know how much extra. I  just keep my old tag and I just buy a new sticker for it each year. In Ohio like most other states the tag stays with the owner when the vehicle is sold, in some states like Texas the tag stays with the vehicle, unless they changed it. Indiana's system is pretty bad, plus they have excise taxes on vehicles.

Will we see a lawsuit over the continued forcing of the Indian theme. With the only way out of it is to spend extra money and get a specialized plate.
Why can't we have the option of a Cowboy/ranchhand. Why do we idealize a group that use to slaughter innocent travelers going West?

I love that slogan on the Kentucky plate..."It's that friendly." It makes me want to sip some bourbon with them.

What is a good official Oklahoma slogan?
Power is nothing till you use it.

What? Did someone say bourbon? I digress.

I think the design could have been a bit better. It's almost as if the plate says "yep, it's where the toothless reside" IMO.

Indiana has a flat plate too:

Much worse than ours.  Why print it if it is going to be so generic anyway?

They have another cost free option that begged for lawsuits much more than an Indian theme:

I read an article on the Indian theme.  The old plate was the a trial crest, the new one is of a statue (I assume you know which one) which is purported to be a member of a different tribe.  Spread the wealth!

I'll assume you were trying to stir the pot on the Natives killing thing... I anxiously wait the argument to ensure but refuse to bite first!

Wow....you must not have any quorum of Native American blood, do you?  I'm pretty proud of MY Native American heritage, and I think the stories of slaughtering 'innocent' travelers going west is a bit exaggerated.

I am sorry but every time I see that plate I think Samurai Warrior. There is the classic, stereotypical, samurai pose that you always see in sculptures and such. There were two versions of the indian statue to choose from. On one you could see the indian in profile and tell that it was an indian. In the other, the one the numnuts chose, you CANT tell its an indian, it looks exactly like that Samurai stuff you always see. I can only imagine people from out of state going "Why is there a Samurai Warrior on the Oklahoma tags?" Why they didnt choose the one where you could tell what it was I don't know.

The other version in profile, you could see the face, hair and muscles.  At this weird angle it looks like his arm has armor on it and he is wearing a helmet and samurai body armor. At any distance, it looks exactly like a Samurai Warrior, not an indian lol.

I guess the reason is because Oklahoma is a Indian State and the state moto is based in that theme. Many states focus the licence plates on what they are famous for. Michigan has the focus on being a Great Lake State, Idaho on their fine, potatos, N. Carolina on Kitty Hawk and the first flight of aircraft, and so on. A another good theme for Oklahoma license plates would be one about Oil, Oklahoma is a big oil state. Some states are dull and have nothing much to boast about like Ohio & Iowa IMO of course.[8]

you might wanna check on the state motto.

It has NOTHING to do with Indians.

You might want to come back every once in a while to refresh your memory about Oklahoma.
