Gogol Bordello is great. Gypsy punks rule.

Their shows get pretty wild, though -- in a good way.

Ozomatli is a great pick-up, too.

This is the most exciting announcement for me so far!
Vote for the two party system!
-one one Friday and one on Saturday.

Have fun selling tickets to that.

Gold

Better start than last year's underwhelming announcement.  I'm not so big on the Black Crowes, given that they've been here several times and the other names hinted at.  Part of the charm of D-fest is finding new bands; Gogol Bordello sounds like it could be a fun show.  http://gogolbordello.com/frequencies/listen/

I'm hoping we get some better names pretty soon.  I'm sure it will draw just fine.  It's a great time.

I'm apparently very out of the music scene.  Those bands are either old news or entirely unknown to me.  I'm not complaining at all about Dfest, rather commenting on my state of being (or lack thereof).
I feel so hip, knowing all of two. One of whom I only know from my friend's incessant raving about how she "loves Blue October."

Do not want.

I am, however, glad there are acts that other folks probably want to see. Anything that crams people into downtown is good in my book.

DeCapo13

I stumbled upon Gogol Bordello in a tent at Coachella a few years back. While not knowing any of their songs or who the hell they were, they blew me away. Definitely a highlight of that festival for me. I think they are perfect for Dfest.  Maybe I'm just easy to please -or perhaps more familiar with some of the acts?- but I like the lineup overall so far (bought my tickets today). However, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed to hear KOL announced in the next round of headliners.

Anybody know when we should expect announcement #2? I always seem to like the secondary announcements more than the first.

hey.  i saw them on the main stage at coachella last year.  i was disappointed that i had missed them in 2007 (we watched bjork instead).  so i was really happy when they brought them back in 08.  i am really excited to see them at dfest.  should be great.
There is an ancient Celtic axiom that says 'Good people drink good beer.' Which is true, then as now. Just look around you in any public barroom and you will quickly see: bad people drink bad beer. Think about it. - Hunter S. Thompson

Oh, they will. Tens of thousands of tickets.

For those who don't know some of the main acts, that's what Dfest is all about. Go and discover something you haven't heard on the radio.

I saw Ghostland Observatory last year, with no prior knowledge of them, and now I am a huge fan.

I hope to check out some new talent this year, and I think Citizen Cope is one to see. I've listened online, and I like it. Ozomatli will be one to see also.

And the Black Crowes rock in my opinion, I can't wait. Their new album is very good.

You are forgetting there is a variable in terms of how many drugs they did before recording the album and when they show up in Tulsa.

I don't get it. I think drugs is what led them to split up before, but they are now refreshed and ready and have kicked the hard stuff. I could be wrong, though. Either way, I don't think drugs would hinder their performance anyway.

I doubt they sell over 10k.

Drugs make performances better.
