I doubt they sell over 10k.

I doubt you know what you are talking about. The event has been huge the last two years.  But hey, if you like being wrong, more power to you! :)

You definitely don't know what you are talking about. Downtown was packed full last year, and I suspect this will be even bigger.

No other festival I know of puts together this caliber of talent and charges less than forty bucks! The Crowes are headlining Wakarusa in the middle of the Ozarks, 2 hours from any city, and those tix are well over $100.

Anyway einstein, just don't go, it'll probably be more fun that way.

$40 is insane!  You can't even see a Dog with a wig on in the BOK Center for less than $80

Not to hijack the thread, but that 10K comment is an example of a pervasive negativity some people have towards the Tulsa community.  D-fest is a really great event; I haven't seen anything like it in Tulsa before.  Why not come check it out instead of making up a bunch of maniacal nonsense?

This reminds me of some of the silly and mean spirited comments on the World comments section and Call the Editor before that.  I mean, what the heck are you thinking?  The event was huge last year with a similar lineup.  If you'd do a 20 second Google search (20 seconds, because I'm alloting extra time to take the tinfoil hat off) you would know that.  But you take the mean dig at the up and coming event instead?  Why do that?

I think one of the things holding us back is just a generally negative attitude of some people.  And in this case, it's just hilariously wrong.

I don't even scroll down to read the TW comments anymore because most of them literally make me ill. The negativity and bitterness displayed is just unbelievable. I moved here three years ago, and I really do love Tulsa, but people like that make it really hard for me to stand it here sometimes.

Again, sorry for the thread-jack . . .

I generally do the same with the World comments, other than occaisionally looking when I suspect someone is trying to stuff the ballot box of public opinion.

I've felt the same reaction about the negativity.  It can really turn me off.  I think it can sort of seep in and make you negative even if you don't want it to.  There's a time and place for being critical.  But, so many folks seem to abuse the interwebs around these parts to make up really negative, mean-spirited stuff.

D-fest is an example of some folks in Tulsa really getting it done.  It really blows me away what they have accomplished.  No need to crap on it.

Fortunately, it seems to be an issue in nearly every part of the country, not just here. Take a look at the comments sections on newspaper sites across the globe. They seem to be a magnet for the perpetually morose and mean-spirited.

Indeed.  Maybe it stings more when it's your town.  Something about the anonymity breeds vile comments.

The scary thing to me is that as newspapers die, we get more of this unwanted opinion nonsense.  Sort of unrelated, but ESPN will run an interactive night in football season full of fan comments on the screen.  It's like people want their football game with meaningless opinions.

Of course, I say this as a somewhat anonymous poster on a message board.  But I'd note that the vast majority of folks here seem to stick around (not so many weirdo one time comments) and the vast majority also deeply wants to see this city thrive, even if we have different ways of getting there.

I see D-fest as an example of us getting it right.  No need to kick it.

Anybody have any idea when they are going to announce more bands?....I figured they would have by now....

Nik

They said they'd have an announcement by the 18th, but I haven't heard anything either.
