Have you ever been to a tea party or are you basing your opinions of its participants on what you see on TV?

I'm basing this particular post on a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll.  

I'm also basing it on that fact that most of the stuff I see coming out of the Tea Party I find pretty objectionable, and, as a card carrying liberal of the first degree, my reaction alone makes the Tea Party stuff suitably conservative for most conservative Americans.

Here's a fun little thought experiment: Imagine if the Tea Party was black!

"Imagine that hundreds of black protesters were to descend upon Washington DC and Northern Virginia, just a few miles from the Capitol and White House, armed with AK-47s, assorted handguns, and ammunition. And imagine that some of these protesters —the black protesters — spoke of the need for political revolution, and possibly even armed conflict in the event that laws they didn't like were enforced by the government? Would these protester — these black protesters with guns — be seen as brave defenders of the Second Amendment, or would they be viewed by most whites as a danger to the republic?"

You could have at least chosen Lenin. Stalin is a murderous madman on the order of Hitler. If you wouldn't compare someone to Hitler, you probably ought not compare them to Stalin, either. If you want to call people liberal, compare them to Bernie Sanders or Al Franken or Dennis Kucinich.
