QuoteWelcome to Relocate America's TOP100 Places To Live! 2009 marks our twelfth year compiling our annual list of the best places to live in the United States. Relocate America helps home buyers and sellers access relocation resources that make moving easier. The Relocate America team reviews local economy, housing and other essential statistics important to making key real estate buying decisions.

Throughout the calendar year, we accept nominations for cities & towns throughout the country to be considered as a "top place to live". The nominating parties must include their own reasons why they feel their city should make the list. The nominations, along with key data regarding education, employment, economy, crime, parks, recreation and housing are reviewed, rated & judged by our editorial team. Special consideration is taken on the Top 10 Cities as they are listed in a ranked order of America's Top 10 Places to Live.

Just don't relocate to the stinky part of town. Buyer beware.

Tulsa, the "Call Center Capitol of the Western Hemisphere".

I am totally confused by this site.  It says the "Top 10" have a special order but the box with Tulsa has 12.

Maybe they are lumping Dallas/Fort Worth and Raleigh/Durham together  ;D

Yeah it's a pretty random list.  I don't put a lot of stock in these things, especially when they don't list their methodology, but hey, Tulsa's #1, so may as well be pleased about it!

I'm with Floyd.  Positive PR is positive PR!  Frankly, if we were #12 it would still be a positive.  Not too many years ago we were on the list of places people were vacating.

QuoteCHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Some of the best places in the country to call home this year are areas where the local economy and the housing market is stable, according to RelocateAmerica.com's annual list of the top 100 places to live. Topping the list: Tulsa, Okla.

"The economy there has been very stable," said Steve Nickerson, president and CEO of TrueV New Media Group, which operates the RelocateAmerica.com Web site. The strength of the energy industry in the area was part of why Tulsa came out on top, he said.

Cities have to be nominated to be eligible for the list; the Web site's editorial team then selects the top 100 places, based on interviews with local leaders and residents, as well as environmental, education, crime, employment and housing data for the past year.

This is how I look at it: the recession seems to be Tulsa's time to shine. Compared to the area of the country I live in right now, Tulsa is a haven.

Speaking of good publicity, Tulsa's Homicide Division is going to be featured on the Biography channel in the next couple weeks. It's one of the best in the country in solving homicide cases. All the more reason I want to become a detective in old T-Town. (Btw, I know that this doesn't mean that Tulsa is one of the safest towns. It DOES mean that closure is more of a guarantee for those who suffer the loss of a loved one, though).
