My initial reaction to being in the new lobby is that it is a bit cold and sterile.   Perhaps a lobby bar would help, not just the one in Trula, the restaurant off the lobby which you have to go through the bar to get to.  And the hosts stand is by the door leading out to the sidewalk.  That was confusing.
It's hard being a Diamond in a rhinestone world.

I thought the lobby was a bit "cold and sterile" too. But it looks much better now with the drapery in place. It still really needs some more touches however. Some large flower arrangements on top of the round seating thingeys, and some palms scattered here and there, would go a long way to finish things up and make it feel cozy yet grand. A large deco painting hanging on the middle landing of the stairs, or a pair of them to either side "Think I might know someone who could make some custom  ;D" would look stunning. Or at this time of year a giant wreath on the landing part and garland all around on the upper railings would be nice.

If you look at old pictures (or old movies), the lobbies of big buildings were generally cold and sterile.  What made them warm and alive was the presence of PEOPLE.  That will come.  People will be mingling from the bar, the coffee shop, the apartments, the hotel and events.

Well, it did have a bit more detail in the mouldings back in the day... and see,,, plants, and even greenery along the railings.  :)  I also like the large tables with seating around them and the lamps. Seems more cozy.

In earlier times they were big on flowers, greenery and palms in the grand hotels and restaurants. Adds a welcoming sense of warmth, luxury and elegance.

Another Mayo Lobby pic. Look at the beautiful palms framing the entrance. Classic elegance. Larger tables and lamps during this time as well. Definitely looks cozy and inviting.  Its nice to be in a grand hotel lobby and find your own comfortable spot to chat, relax, look at a paper or magazing, people watch and just enjoy the ambiance in general.

Couple more,,,The Alvin and Hotel Tulsa

Palms are a bit on the whimpy side in this one imo lol. But at least they had them.
