QuoteThe White House tells a slightly different story. A spokesperson said the group was actually supposed to be there at 9:30, but they held the gates for the group until 10:30, 15 minutes longer than they told the group, but when they still hadn't arrived, they had to draw the line.

Whenever I make appointments at the Whitehouse I try to get there a bit early.  Same with my dentist visits.  It's a courtesy thing.

You don't think the adults are at fault here?

Get the kids on the bus and get to the White House on time.

Seems like a reasonable idea.  If I was expecting someone at 9:30 AM and they didn't show for an hour I'd move on as well...especially if they are a gaggle of griping toddlers and adults who think they don't have to stick to a schedule.

As to the OP, of course the Steelers are more important...sheesh!

I went to the whitehouse last summer.  I took my kids.  We had to be at the gate a a specific time.  If we had not been there at that time then I would not have expected to get inside.  My kids would have missed out.  This would have been my fault (most likely, depending on why I wasn't there on time).

But Obama's a dem...... and we all know that personal responsibility is not at all important to the Democrat Socialist Party.... Obama must HATE children.

Are you kidding me? If this had been Bush, we'd be hearing endless rantings from the media. Kanye West would be out there shouting Bush Hates Children". Give me a freakin break. As to the others assignment of blame to the parents, I'll defer to those actually involved in the situation. Here is a quote from a parent:

Here we have President Obama and his administration saying, 'Here we are for the common, middle class people,' and here he is not letting 150 5- and 6-year-olds into the White House because he's throwing a lunch for a bunch of grown millionaires

Translation = because we have a bunch of kids with us, we are now so important that the President of the United States must bend to our will and we should be able to show up whenever we want despite any plans he might have.

That has to be the stupidest thing you have ever posted on the forum.

I didn't read the link, usually I gauge by other's reactions what was said in it so I can make an uneducated opinion.  ;)  I would assume it was some nazi in security or low-level bureaucrat, not President Obama who "made them wait".  Let's not get this petty, dude.

I went on a tour of the WH in 1979, I would imagine it's a whole lot harder to get in there now than it was 30 years ago and would also explain a strict adherance to schedules.

Here is the classic montage of Obama's apologies for all times he was tardy for Senate hearings:

He expected to be forgiven, I suppose. These kids, meh, not so much.

Then in their own words:

Quote
Paty Stine said the White House staff should have made an exception

That is pretty close to what I said, I just threw a lot of sarcasm and extra words.

Are the millionaires less important than the children?  On a fundamental level they are two groups of citizens.

The football players were there on time.  The children were not.  The children missed their chance because their handlers were incompetent.  Really, it's that simple.

What's more, he isn't meeting with the super bowl champs for their own gratification.  More so to commune with NFL fans.  Show them he is interested in the same things they are.

It is a non-issue if the White House version of the story is correct.
