Been to Sapulpa lately?

I just went to Sapulpa for the first time in 20 years, and I was struck by their cool, old downtown.  (Still intact!)  It still looks a lot like this old postcard (minus the trolley, and with newer cars...).

Here's a newer photo:

It would be amazing if downtown Tulsa had retained this much of its urban fabric, especially its oldest buildings.  (Imagine the potential for for adaptive reuse and redevelopment if downtown's architectural masterpieces were surrounded by dense, walkable, turn-of-the century red brick buildings--think the Brady District on steroids--instead of enormous parking lots.)

Sigh....

Still.  Way to go Sapulpa.  If you haven't been there recently, go check it out.

I was in Bartlesville recently and it is much the same way. The old buildings have not been carved out in favor of parking lots.

Boo to American Parking (and I guess the churches and TCC)...they will never get one cent of my money unless they build a parking garage or two and sell all of their remaining property to developers.
