Former City Councilor and radio talk show host Chris Medlock will announce whether he will run for mayor at a 10 a.m. Wednesday press conference at the Tulsa Press Club.

Is he calling the conference at the press club in the hopes that someone from the press will be there for a late breakfast?

I will be there for the announcement and to pledge my support if he chooses to run.  He will win the primary.

Of course you will support him dear, you two share tinfoil hats, histrionics and only a nodding relationship with truthfulness.

As for winning the primary, sure he will.  Um, did I ever tell you that you Dear Sir, are related to a Nigerian prince and there's this sum of money......

No, but tell me more of your lies!  That is all you know how to do!  At least Chris is not afraid to stick his neck out and bang on the table a few times.  Who do you know that is threatened by Medlock's inquiries into the cesspool of corruption in our fair town?

You never disappoint do you?

Tell me, when is the fair good knight Medlock going to release that report on Great Plains he spent so much time and money on?

So someone involved with GPA?  Is that why your are so angry? Why the vitriol toward our Paladdin?  I tried to bait him into going in that direction by asking him how he was going to do an end-run around the entrenched corruption, the derision of the Tulsa World, and in an environment where the last time he was in office the President of the Chamber of Criminals (but I said 'Commerce') called him a Nazi.  He basically said by going to the people through the internet, which was weird, because I identified myself as a concerned citizen and blogger and he never asked for my blog name or afterward invite me to volunteer. Further, he never smiled.  He said he used his radio program as focus group of sorts.

He promised a focus on changing the strong-mayor form of government, hiring a city manager, working toward repledging V2025 moneys(ies?) toward public safety, developing more of SW Tulsa and the peripheries to compete with the Burbs, and moving the focus away from downtown.  He seems to have two strong backers in the 'Branson Landing' folk and some Sooner Development companies, who he mentioned numerous times. He derided the midtown money belt numerous times, and alluded to Mr. Bartlett as the progeny of a powerful political family and to Mayor Taylor as a 'millionaire.'

I retract my belief that he will win the primary until I hear more from Mr. Bartlett.  In full disclosure, I pledged $20 toward Chris' campaign.

Tim, I'm going to repeat something that you may have missed on this board from a few years back.

A middle-aged woman I know who is a conservative and a Republican voter told me this directly a few years ago: "Chris Medlock is too immature to be mayor."

I think that in a nutshell gets at the crux of his problem. Yes, he may have a good idea or two. But he also gets distracted by silly, inconsequential and even borderline-insane ideas that wreck his credibility.

Chris shoots his mouth off way too much and alienates people when he could be building much-needed alliances. He is terrible at picking his battles. And don't get me started on his smugness.

(On an aside, it's also not smart to endorse an incompetent mayor such as Bill LaFortune after saying for months how incompetent he is. That tells me he's more interested in being a partisan than helping the greater good. If LaFortune stunk and you don't care for Taylor, don't endorse anyone.)

Anyone who confidently predicts him winning a primary against a well-established and respected name such as Dewey Bartlett isn't looking too much at the bigger picture. Even if Medlock squeaks by in the primary, he's going to get crushed by Adelson in the general.

Maybe Medlock will surprise me and start acting like a statesman and not a yahoo. Maybe he will turn over a new leaf and gain support from a wide range of the community. But I'll believe that when I see it.

Mudschlock showed too much of his underbelly the last couple of years on the radio.  He's un-electable in a city-wide election or for anything above that.  Maybe could pull off a state house district, but I even doubt that anymore.

Come on Wrink, don't you remember that playing hooky at Arby's stunt he pulled while a councilor? How about the lame excuse for not completing his MBA (which was his only cred)? I agree with RW and conman on this one. Move on Mr. Medlock.
Someone get Hoss a pacifier.

Didn't recall what your GOP Cassandra was quoted as saying way back when, and though you do not need my validation, I think your take is spot-on - with the exception of the 'insane' inference. Careful!

I think that Mr. Bartlett will have more friends with deeper pockets than Chris, and this universally means that he will win.  He may not even have to spend as much as he thinks he does to do so.

You guys are talking nuts and bolts politics. I'll venture a guess from a more marketing, gutteral perception. He can't smile. He can't be funny. He can't connect with the common man. He may not have a Masters, but he behaved as though he was top of the Master's program. Just like me, he is passionate in an irritating way. ;)

If it hadn't been for major mishandling by the republican's in the last election, LaFortunate would still be mayor. Remember, he still showed up strong and was held back by Miller jumping in and siphoning off support.

This is not a city who likes smart asses. He reminds me somewhat of Terry Young gone republican.

Waaaaahhhhhh you said 'asses'! Waaaaaaaahhhh! I object! I object! Ha ha ha!

The GOP did not mishandle the last election, it was abandoned by all the midtown moderates and conservative hard-liners elsewhere.  Taylor was clearly more articulate, hard-working, than Mayor Bill and moved the agenda of T-town's hidden elite forward faster than BL.
