The Checkered Pants Conservative Goes White Knuckle

Now that John Sullivan has been given an absolute pass for abandoning his position in Congress, and has been given seemingly unlimited free publicity in our local media, I think it is time to ask the question: does any man who wears checkered pants in a family photo really think he is in his right mind? Look for yourself, Tulsan: http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?subjectid=11&articleid=20090705_16_A1_USRepJ797353&archive=yes.  There he is all tanned up after spending how many hundreds of thousands of dollars, proud as a peacock, absolutely clueless. Thank you, Tulsa World, for bringing us the truth about our colleague (though we are sure you did not mean to!)

We need a fighter, a tireless advocate, a relentless pit bull to advance our common sense values.  Instead we get a dude who wants us to applaud his decision to - in the midst of the most intense political battle in our nation's history - drop his sword, reveal his arse to the enemy, and take a thirty-day dive in the exclusive confines of the Betty Ford Clinic.  Because no where in Tulsa could have helped him (but what a tan!)

I will clap . . . clap . . . clap . . . his decision to dry up and white knuckle it.  I will be seriously impressed when all his suck-up enablers and clinger-ons and yessirs get help for their co-dependence.  But they will not, they will ride that poor sucker until their next tool comes along.

John Sullivan wears checkered pants.  A fitting symbol for the Republicrats.

I guess I'm just not as incensed as you are about him personally. Private industry makes allowance for this illness. He is making an effort and, he's not out of the woods after a short stint in a rehab. I don't like his politics and his tenure has been unproductive from what i can tell.

The pic show's a totally out of date family guy. I can identify with that. They look like typical Tulsan's don't they?

What incenses me is that he has such great health care plan that few in the general population can get. His constituents most likely end up rather badly with the same illness. I hope he recognizes that.

No way does he realize that his party is a major sponsor of "that's socialism" rhetoric.

He should have to pay for Betty Ford out of his own funds.

Checkered Past yields Checkered Pants.

I too am upset by his choice of pants and believe the cornerstone of a good family is a dad with single-color pants.

KN,  nice flowery prose 'n all you got there but you don't seem to realize you are doing the same thing that pisses you off when others aren't sensitive about mental illness.  FWIW, Sullivan suffers from an obsessive disorder, something you seem familiar with.  Cut the good Congressman some slack if it bothers you when others on this forum lampoon people who suffer from mental illness.  The plaid slacks?  Okay, pretty tacky.

Oh, and according to the BFC website, it's only $26K for a 30-day inpatient spin-dry, not hundreds of thousands of dollars as you indicated.

Did you count the VIP package with private suites and minibar?

I'm still a little miffed at my friend who didn't want to go.  It wound up working out though  Maybe next time.   ;D

And C, I hadn't fired up my grill in over a year and had a nice surprise waiting for me when I was prepping it on Saturday.  A mud-dauber nest had been built one of the burner rails.

I wonder why John Sullivan chose to go to Hollywood Rehab.  I wonder if he got any autographs while he was there.

Don't forget the other excursions like, Play Rock Band with whatever band is in rehab that month.  Or re-enact famous movie scenes with the real actors.

And then there are celebs who have supposedly come to Laureatte for "privacy" from their Cali homes.

At least the guy had the onions to own up to his problem.  If he had the means to pay for BFC, then BFD.
