Curious if anyone has the inside scoop, if there is any as to why we can't watch the replay. Is it too protect Dewey Bartlett and his actions on the TAIT board?
I know they approved the purchase of useless land on 46th street north that a previous TAIT Board did not approve of (TW story here). This land was also listed on Mayor Lafortunes substandard housing list.

Anyone got anything here?

I am watching the replay on the meeting on TGOV right now.

Well, obviously they needed time to scrub it up.  :P

I watched it the 25th(1st airing), the meeting was held on the 9th. Why the delay when most of TGOV is filled with reruns and junk? Before Mayor Taylors late arrivals, the meetings where aired live.

Another question on why did the airport buy this land. According to this MAP of the substandard housing in Tulsa , the land the airport bought is marked as unsound(red area NE of airport) . Unsound would probably be unable to develope wouldn't, yet Jeff and other think they can use it for developement. Oddly none of the other land near it, the airport does not own, is classified as unsound.

All discussions on this land have been behind closed doors. Would Dewey like to begin his transparency in Gov't here?

Dunno about that, but I have heard that Elizabeth Taylor would wake up and say:

"Yawwwwn...I feel like a new man today..."

Thank you folks, I'll be playing here all week.

What the does a map of the current condition of the housing in a given area have to do with it's development potential? Once you scrape the buildings they no longer exist and have no impact on the development potential of the land.

what is it you are upset about from the meeting?

RecycleMichael

It is all a conspiracy.

The meetings never really happened, the land contains bones from aliens, and the Mayor and Bartlett are connected with a local banker in an unholy trilateral commission.

TGOV stands for The Gang Of Vermin.
Power is nothing till you use it.

Wrinkle

TAA attempted to purchase this same land a couple of years ago, ostensibly for the infamous "third" runway, which barely made beginning of planning criteria in 1990, and the stats have done nothing but fall since.

IMO, this is more about taking the load off this man's bad investment decision and handing him taxpayer money.

There is no houses nor buildings on this land. It's waste land in a flood plain and on the map is listed as unsound. $170,000 is a lot of FAA grant money (taxes) to pay for 70 acres of land that was worthless to the owner and now worthless to Tulsa. Also some could say a loss in property taxes or does the airport pay the same taxes?

Why your obsession with this land purchase? Is it your secret hideout or where you are growing your "special mushrooms"?

From the Tulsa World...Airports Director Jeff Mulder said the 70-acre parcel is in the Mingo Creek flood plain. It was considered for purchase by a previous board as part of a third runway construction project nearly 20 years ago.

"Regardless of its use for a runway, which is way in the future, it is a parcel we wanted to own to develop for warehousing or manufacturing to support American Airlines, Lufthansa (Technik) or anything that would make sense there — offices, retail, something to support tenants and develop lease revenue for us," Mulder said.

TAA got a grant to buy the land, it was very cheap (less than $3,000 an acre), and it may be used in the future for a variety of options. It appears to be a wise purchase.

They said Walt Disney was nuts for buying some Florida swamp land.  Look how that worked out.  Probably not a bad investment for TAA.

I doubt there is much land anywhere inside the city you could get for $2500 an acre. Next to the airport that has to be a complete steal.

Good buy.

No obsession just curious as to why the closed door meetings about the land. Whats so secretative about it that can't be discussed in an open forum?

They've done so good at getting anything  just across the street (Mingo) built it might be another 100 years for that land if it's even possible.

Why such a defensive stance from you and swake about this?
