So it appears that Gomez and Martinson are now sharing space on a digital billboard around 31st and Yale. (It is actually in the Dollar Thrifty parking lot.)

Wasn't Gomez one of the city councilors who took the bus ride to OKC to do his own "research" on digital signs before the council voted on the new digital sign ordinance?

Did Martinson and Gomez both vote to approve digital signs or are they just on the same sign because they share the same campaign manager, Jim Burdge?

Can anyone speculate what it costs a campaign to rent such a sign?

Councilors Eric Gomez and Dennis Troyer were the two who watered down INCOG's digital billboard ordinance, among other things making them much brighter at night, and brighter overall than even the sign industry nationwide recommends.

When I saw Gomez re-election billboards downtown along the IDL and my first thought was a favor was being paid back.

So someone told me a story that the sign guys actually drove Gomez and troyer to OKC on a bus at night. When they got off the bus, there were 2 big signs there with their faces on them. Gomez's comment was something like, "Boy, I really could get used to that!"

The same person who relayed the story also said they will be going to the city clerk's office to see how these billboard expenses are filed as campaign donations or expenses. Unless of course Jim Burdge has already taken care of it.

Anyone have any idea how much Burdge could be paying for these?
