I think we are in for a show down in District 8 - South Tulsa and let's certainly not count out Scott Grizzle who the Tulsa World didn't even mention.

Grizzle has a plan involving Diebold vote counting machines. His computer skills will pull him through.

Voting ain't power, counting votes is.
Power is nothing till you use it.

All I need to know is the following:

1.  Lakin is endorsed by the Tulsa World.

2.  Lakin is using Jim Burdge as his campaign manager (even though he is trying to put on a front that he is using Jeff Stava -- Jeff Stava then calls Jim Burdge to do everything).

3.  Lakin is employed by Kaiser (oh I'm sorry it's the Tulsa Community Foundation which is the 2nd foundation to distribute George Kaiser's money).

I'll vote "NO" all day long with the company this guy keeps.

I live out near district 8, where are Grizz's signs?

Took longer than expected to get the screen made. Hope to have them tuesday.

More than willing to bring one by your house.

P.S. TulsaWorld is running a story on District 8 next week. Awful nice to run an editorial in advance of the story introducing the candidates.

With the field populated the way it is, shucks, I'd vote for Grizzle for D8 if I lived there.  Have to agree with Shely on the Lakin thing.  Lost respect for Christiansen when he cratered to being called a racist and then flipped his vote on the Greenwood thing last week.  Hard thing to believe in when he says after his vote that he wants to hear everyone's opinion and have all the information to make an informed decision...just funny how that came about after his vote and then getting called a racist, yikes.  Does that mean he chose no to make an informed decision before at the first vote?

But I am curious, Grizzle...how would you have voted on that issue?  Just for some insight...

While I do not live in your district, and therefore cannot vote for ya, I do live close enough to help with name recognition. So, yes, PM me when you get your signs.

Since I do live in District 8 and plan to vote for anyone other than Christensen, I'll be looking at 'all available offers' from the other candidates.

wink - wink

I'm thinking it's time for Christiansen to put all his effort back into selling airplanes.  He's had his chance, done his representation.  I'm not a tin foil-hatter, but I really don't like the idea of the TW interests and Kaiser interests dominating the council.  Bad, bad politics.  The answer for you D-8'ers is clear: Grizzle.

I need to do some more research on it but as I understand it, most project like that do not pay back into the loan because they are non-profit projects. The idea was suggested that since this was a for-profit venture, money from the profits could be funneled back to be used for additional projects. The one fact I've yet to hear is how much they were wanting it to pay back $5? $50,000? 5% of gross? That could make a big difference.

While I haven't agreed with every vote Christiansen has made I think he has done a fairly good job over the years for his district and the city.

On Lakin, given who he works (TCF), given who sits on TCF's board, and given who the major donors are to TCF, how is Lakin not going to be conflicted out of a number of votes?  Granted I guess he is the one who is going to decided whether or not he is conflicted out.

My concerns would be not only that he would have to recuse himself on some things, but also he would basically be asking his coworkers to make judgements on his projects. Almost makes it hard for them to be impartial. It's one thing to disagree with a councilor about a 3rd party, but to be making decisions about another councilor's work and projects?

FYI: 11:30am tomorrow on 98.5fm/KWGS.com you can hear me debate with Phil & Bill

It was recorded today. I'm sure Lakin fouled out with the TPD and TFD unions (granted the TFD union backs Christiansen anyway)

I think Jeff Stava was staring me down.

Miss Oklahoma was there too... I'm not sure why.

We sent her there.  She is our deciding factor.  Whoever made the most eye contact with her is our choice for D8.
