It's coming. A certain recipient of tax payer subsidies for development (which has not really taken place despite funds forwarded) has been a bad boy.

Come on Tulsa World. Do your job.
Misappropriations? Conversions?

Kirby Crowe must know....

Sager.

Wasn't this discussed in another thread? Seems I remember that there has been no real progress on the building with his name on it that was supposed to become condos. The building re-hab was a recipient of V2025 funding.

Do I win anything?

Of course I know but I just want more meat to the story.  I've looked at TDA agendas and cant find anything being discussed.  Yes, Downtown Housing Funds were through the Vision2025 initiative but TDA helped handle the disbursment part of it.

FOTD, are you talking about potential misallocations and conversions utilizing those downtown housing funds?  I remember years ago, some at TDA told me that while nothing was going on with the building, someone would be in their office constantly for draws for 'management service'...the lack of progress on one downtown loft project in the Blue Dome area caused me to question the viability of the project and the ability to complete.

I keep seeing lots of stories about the project in Tulsa World, Tulsa Business Journal and most recently the Urban Tulsa Weekly, but not a lot of hurry up and finish...of course, thats if this item is related to the same project Im talking about ;)

FOTD...how else has this person been a 'bad boy'?  I'm dying to know...kinda like a kid on Xmas Eve!

DowntownNow

oh, oh, oh...gimme gimme gimme...pppllllleeeeeaaaaasssseeeeee!  Okay, I'll stop now.

I'm suddenly thinking if what I postulated above were indeed the case...it makes a stunning argument for those councilors that wanted the Greenwood Chamber's Section 108 loan funds repaid.  What is to prevent the Greenwood Chamber, or anyone else, from doing a lil creative bookkeeping and claim there were no profits made by the project to be recycled to another?  Not only is North Tulsa out, but other parts of Tulsa as well when they come back and demand more funds for the next project.

Hmmmm...different topic I know but...made me think

You must not be the downtown insider you think you are if you don't know this legacy...

There's a pattern

Oh I know the legacy...I just find it interesting and curious which particular facet of that legacy has gotten him into trouble finally, if it has.  The last time the loft project was discussed, we had someone saying they were from the Vision2025 committee and they defended the project, saying he anticipated it being fully funded and completed.

I saw the entire proposal associated with that loft project that was given to the selection committee...to say it was lacking and made one question the plan and its feasability was an understatement.  Students in Home Ec could have put together a better business plan...In his proposal to Vision2025, Sager anticipated the total project cost at $2.82 million.  As of the most recent article in the Urban Tulsa, that figure has climbed to $4.5 million which should make the Vision2025 folks question the project.  It would most certainly make a lender skeptical, an estimated increase of 60% of original budget.

I've also followed it since the "floor breaking" with Mayor Taylor back in March 07, with scheduled completion by fall of '08, to see that come and go to Fall '09 now and see a building with a hollowed out elevator shaft, some hall partitions, unfinished windows on the exterior and not a thing done on the ground floor.  Not to mention any of the major items, electrical, plumbing and mechanical.

I've also read every excuse he has offered why it has not moved forward or any further than it has over the years...even chuckling with that "we took out every single brick and washed it" comment.  Really?  Did he really think anyone was going to buy that?  Wow.

Just curious what has come about lately that prompted FOTD's statement to start this off.  I think many of us have wondered how this could go on so long without completion, where the $1.3 million (that was allocated) used on this project has gone, etc.

This integrity issue made it impossible to support 2025.

The Mayo looks phenomenal and the funds for that part of 2025 are being held to strict standards by the city's partner, the developer. Meanwhile, maybe there's a white knight in the wings who will try to capitalize on this area if and when it eventually needs saving.

But FOTD, is there something specific that ahs recently come to light that caused you to make the opening statement or is this just carry over from his standard operating practice and your opinion?

DowntownNow

I just assumed there was a story waiting to be broken given that opening

Good question. The media needs to do their job. My post is a result of hearsay, but the damaging "info" seems like there's some lining up the facts that spell a certain smell. Integrity is something you have or don't have. There's no in between. It sounds serious. When you see it in the news, then there will be credibility to the story. How he managed to get ANY funds out of V-2025 is what's shocking to me.  I can't believe his reputation was overlooked by such learned people.
