Guesstimate how long it will take me to go thru the Airport :)

Flight boards @ 6:45am
Flight leaves @ 7:15am
1 Adult
No checked luggage
Boarding pass already printed (god bless technology)

So, basically however long it takes me to walk from the curb, go thru security, and walk to the gate.

I'm assuming if I arrive there ~6am I should be golden.  Heck, I could probably even arrive ~6:30 if I wanted to push it.

Thoughts?

I vote 6:30...   but that is just because I enjoy other people's pain.

I wouldn't go past about 6am...   You would be surprised how many people fly out on those early flights.

+1  - I've tried pushing it before and barely made the plane.

Is this Tulsa International?

If so, you should be fine at 6:30.  But whenever I try that maneuver I get screwed somehow.  "Excuse me sir, you perfectly fit the profile of a middle age white American male with no history of violence or particular reason to be disgruntled.  According to our database no such person has ever hijacked a plane.  Which would make you the perfect suspect do so.  You see, terrorists are sneaky."

Depends what day of the week and what airline...

I fly somewhere every month and I always try to get the first flight out. From ticketing to gate is only ten minutes usually. Ticketing, however...

If you go at 6:30, so will everyone else. I've seen the security line times expand and increase over and over. You could be through security in 2 minutes or 20, just depends on everyone else.

Oddly, I've always found the security line to be much worse early in the morning than just about any other time of day. If I leave in the afternoon, the security line is usually just a few people and it takes no time at all to clear.

When I've flown out on the early flights it takes 30 minutes or an hour. It just goes to show we aren't a vacation destination, we're the ones going on vacation.  ;D

Oh, how I long for the days when I could get to the airport 30 minutes ahead of my flight and always make it. (And this was after 9/11, but before security theater really went nutso!)

I wouldn't get there past 6 or 605.  ALOT of people fly out in the morning, especially on Fri mornings.  Everyone that was here this week for business, is going home.  I wouldn't press your luck.  Better safe then sorry, at the expense of missing a flight.

7:15am departure on a Friday? I would be there at 5:45, 6:00 at the latest. I try to avoid Friday and Sunday flights, not because of cost, just too many others with the same idea.

I almost always fly on an early flight.  Worst I've ever seen at TUL was 20 minutes from curb to gate, 25 if the line is long to get a coffee.

Worst I remember was Washington Dulles...Curb to gate was nearly an hour.  40 minutes of that was TSA line.

Granted it was a 7pm Sunday flight...  ;D

Most surprising?  O' Hare on a Sunday evening as well.  Curb to gate was 20 minutes.  Once again though, I was in the American terminal, which for some reason seems to run better than the rest of ORD...

Curb to gate at Dulles for us, with four kids and all the baggage was about 30 mins.  Of course, this was on a monday evening.  Loading up in Tulsa and heading out on a wed took a bit longer, but that was because they had to figure out what to do since our flight was canceled and they needed to put us on an earlier flight (good thing we showed up early)

I always plan for one hour before the scheduled flight departure - usually end up at the curb with 50 min. to go to take-off.  With pre-printed pass and no bags to check I can't think of a time it's taken more than 10/15 min. to get to the gate.  I mostly leave early morning.  I've never been squeezed at TIA.

LaGuardia has to be the worst for check-in though still never takes much more than an hour.

Memorial Day weekend 2008:

Flight was in the morning.  I checked in about 45 minutes before the flight.  The attendant said 'you better hurry.'  I didn't think too much of her comment, because every time I've been to the airport, I've waited at most 10 minutes for security.
When I got upstairs, the line for the security checkpoint was stretched to the waiting area of the south concourse.  I panicked, see a line and immediately get into it before it gets worse.  In line I hear the final boarding calls for my flight.   I finally get to the start of the "corrals" at the security checkpoint and realize that they have this 'expert flier' line with about 8 people in it.

So, in my haste, I missed seeing that line when I first went upstairs.  If I saw that line I would have made my flight, for sure.  Anyways, I get through security and still jog to the desk.  The woman that checked me in was at the desk and said 'I told you to hurry.'
'Well, yeah.  About that security line..'
anyways, it wasn't a huge deal, she got me on the next flight and I made my connection @ Dallas.

I guess I was naive in thinking Memorial Day weekend wasn't that big of a travel day, but it certainly was, especially at 6am in the morning @ Tulsa International.

Can't say.  I'm asleep at that wretched hour!

The couple times I've taken that 6:00 AM flight to Houston for business, I was astounded at how many business travelers were on the same flights.  However, as sleep deprivation makes it impossible to concentrate, I have started flying out the night before business trips.  That way I can actually do my job once I'm there.  Early flights are for the birds and the Marines.

Any other time of day at the Tulsa airport, I expect to get through security in 5 minutes or less.  Especially since the economic downturn!
