I thought Pelosi's face would crack when Wilson shouted at Obama:

Remember, this came right after Obama accused other people of lying.
Someone get Hoss a pacifier.

Yeah, only out of some sort of respect thing, the Prez didn't actually use the word "liar" like the guy with Tourettes did.

Ed W

I heard that during the address too.  I don't recall anyone heckling the president - ever - regardless of his party.  It's one thing for a bunch of yahoos to shout in a city hall meeting, it's quite another when what bills itself as the world's greatest deliberative body stoops to the same tactics.

Let's hope the minority whip took Rep. Wilson out behind the woodshed.
Ed

May you live in interesting times.

I'm sure it warmed your heart.   ::)

I was proud that Obama pointed out the NUTJOB LIARS in your party (like your Messiah, Sarah Palin)... and their enablers...
It was long overdue.

"...in a line apparently aimed at McCain's former running mate, Sarah Palin, Obama accused Republicans of spreading the "cynical and irresponsible" charge that the legislation would include "death panels" with the power to hasten the death of senior citizens."

Doubtful.  Limbaugh'll be playing that thing over and over and over.

And how the left in this country responded:

False equivalence.  The two aren't really alike at all.

I am stunned, STUNNED that you would take that position.

One thing I would agree with is that such a statement should have been made in a less formal forum. However, Obama used this forum, where Congressman Wilson works incidentally, to accuse Sarah Palin and the Bush administration of lying in front of millions of people and perhaps this guy just had enough.

Incidentally, anyone notice how the number of uninsured/underinsured dropped from 47 million to 30 million tonight? Could it be that those other 17 million were illegals? Hmmmmmmm.

Anyway, Tapper is twittering that Wilson apologized, saying he let his emotions get the better of him.

Wonder what would have happened if a democrat had done that to Dubya when he was trying to sell the WMD lie?  I think you'd be calling for his head.

Sorry, you won't respond anyway, so it's sort of a rhetorical question.

I think he should probably send a letter of apology to the entire Congress and the WH.  Respect the office, even if you don't like the office-holder.  I would expect anyone regardless of the letter in parentheses next to their names to do the same in a case like this.

Oh, did anyone see Bo(eh)ner's face every time the applause rang down?  I considered making a call to have someone tell him to get up off of whatever was causing him such discomfort while sitting.

I thought we were going to have another "don't taze me bro" incident when I saw that.

Sorry, I'm the consummate thread hijacker...

OK, back on topic now...

And how the left in this country responded:

If you don't know or understand the difference between Iraq and the capitol of THIS COUNTRY....
then you, sir, are either delusional, or a liar, or both.

Obama was NOT speaking in a foreign country he invaded in a pre-emptive war....

It just shows me that the same liberal dems you accuse of being unpatriotic are better Americans than the lunatic know-nothings in the GOP and their jack-booted thug followers will ever be.

Wilson got all wee-wee'd up and really needs to change his pants.

FOTD

Gwee,

FOTD applauds this fool Wilson. After all, this devil would surely have been unrestrained sitting in listening to Dumbya lie his way through eight years to all America with a radical Cheney looking over his shoulder.

Fear not POTUS OBAMA lying to you. It is not in his make up. He is well educated. He is not a dry drunk. He runs a moral and just agenda.

Quit trying to scare America, Wilson. But you do have a right to free speech even if it does make you look like your obnoxious and ridiculous counterparts.

I'm especially interested in this section:

QuoteLikewise, it has been held that a member could not:

    * call the President a "liar."
    * call the President a "hypocrite."
    * describe the President's veto of a bill as "cowardly."
    * charge that the President has been "intellectually dishonest."
    * refer to the President as "giving aid and comfort to the enemy."
    * refer to alleged "sexual misconduct on the President's part."

Some decorum there, huh?

Seeing how the thread starter is an attorney, I wonder what would happen if in the middle of the of the judge reading his or her verdict or issuing a statement, that one of the counselors blurted out 'you're a liar'.

Somehow I'm guessing that counselor would wind up either in jail, or in lieu of that, be paying a hefty fine for contempt of court.

Although admittedly, I'm not exactly sure if the House Rules of Decorum apply here or what....since it was address to Congress and not just the representatives.
