They have hidden most easy routes to find out who they are. They keep posting on TulsaWorld.com however. I doubt it's one of the more well known vocal opponents as their arguments seem flawed at times and overly simplistic.

If it was from a firefighter, would it make you feel better ;D

In a future installment, I want to see what he got from the billboard industry.

I suppose that Charles with public works could continue the status quo as in the past to supervise the majority of city workers.   The elitist DT might object but they would do so in silence.

Someone with a burr under their saddle had a LOT of time on their hands.  Were they expecting me to read all that?  I got as far as the first citation and I started yawning.  Maybe after I've had a few more cups of coffee.  I still have not decided on that race yet, this piece didn't manage to sway me one way or the other.

That makes sense. He is also the President of the Turner Park Homeowners Association and was frequently quoted as being mad about the homeless housing project at Admiral and Yale.

This is a tough one for me too...I know both Eric and Maria (Eric I've known for years) and I like both of them well enough.

Maria took some time to get her feet under her in her first term. She wasn't afraid to stand up to development in favor of neighborhoods, but sometimes to the detriment of growth.

Eric really cares about the development of downtown and his district (maybe too pro-development) but he can talk himself in circles. I hope that the accusations about his approval of changes to LED billboards is not true...don't know.

I was amazed at how many votes Rocky got.  I'm embarrassed to say I didn't realize he was running against Eric in the primary until I saw one of his signs a few days before the primary.  I knew more about the races in other districts than I did my own.

The repub orgs and bloggers endorsed Rocky. I don't really understand it. Rocky is a decent enough guy but he doesn't have a shot against Maria. It's like they'd rather have Maria win than Gomez.

What did Eric do to PO the GOP establishment?  I'm struggling with this race.  I know and like Eric and Maria about equally and have had similar thoughts of the pros and cons of either one's tenure as a D-4 councilor.  Does anyone know if there will be a debate or candidate forum for the Mayoral and any remaining council races?

There was a time when I though Gomez was pro-neighborhood as well, when he was in on talks with then Councilor Gary Watts with the Renaissance Neighborhood on an obtrusive lighting ordinance, but I guess he has his priorities.

From the Whirled:
http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?subjectID=11&articleID=20080425_1_A9_spanc17770

Tulsa's City Council approved a 30-day extension Thursday of the digital billboard moratorium to continue discussions about how best to regulate them.

The council has grappled with the issue for three weeks after being forwarded recommendations by the Sign Advisory Board and the Tulsa Metropolitan Planning Commission.

Before the vote, Councilors Eric Gomez and Dennis Troyer presented their own recommendations.

Among Gomez and Troyer's suggested changes from the previous recommendation:

    * Change the proposed maximum night-time brightness from 300 nits to 500 nits, so the billboard would not be too dim. A nit is a unit of brightness.

    * Change the proposed minimum interval of change between messages from 12 seconds to eight seconds to mirror what is required by the state and the Federal Highway Administration.

    * Change the proposed spacing between the billboards from 2,400 feet to 1,200 feet so many existing billboards would not be excluded from converting to the technology.

So yes, Gomez gave the billboard industry what they lobbied for.

Near as I can tell, it was all about the White City kerfuffle, which turned out to be little more than NIMBY and good old-fashioned mob mentality.

As for Rocky, I thought the way he came on to the TulsaNow forum a couple of years ago and seemed to openly pick fights didn't bode well for his temperament as a public servant. It's that "doesn't play well with others" problem that hurt Medlock so badly.

Wrinkle

I had recently been shopping LED monitors and discovered most of the last generation of LED monitors were manufactured on a 300nit spec.

So, boosting it to 500nit would seem excessive, imo, and done shearly to please the sign industry.
