Last night, Jon Stewart featured video clips of ACORN employees advising undercover journalists posing as a pimp and a prostitute how to hide the nature of their business in their tax forms.

The video clips debuted on biggovernment.com and were featured by FOX News commentator Glenn Beck. Since then the clips have circulated widely on conservative blogs and news sites and sparked a vote in the Senate to de-fund the organization.

"The bad news is that ACORN appears to be a criminal organization that aids and abets criminals and get millions of dollars in taxpayer money!" Stewart said, after highlighting the clips on his show.

Stewart joined conservatives in their criticism of the media, wondering why major media outlets failed to investigate ACORN or report on the investigative videos.

"Where were the real reporters on this story...Where the hell were you?" Stewart screamed into the camera,

"You're telling me that two kids from the cast of High School Musical 3 can break this story with a video camera and their grandmother's chinchilla coat, and you've got nothin'?" he asked.

"I'm a fake journalist, and I'm embarrassed these guys scooped me," he added, "Let's get to work people!"

I think someone may be misunderstanding sarcasm.

I, for one, can't believe that Acorn would help someone pay their taxes!

(I had only watched the beginning of the clip when I posted)

Watch the whole clip........................... ;D
I was OK with even the "bury your money in the back yard." Last I checked, that's not illegal, so long as you pay the appropriate taxes. I did have a problem with the lady not only ignoring the 13 El Salvadorans but continuing to give advice.

At the same time, I have no doubt that there was plenty of material on the tapes that the axe grindey college kids (and Glenn Beck) didn't want us to see.

I do wonder what, if anything, ACORN's bylaws require of them when they hear of illegal activity. It may be that they have a policy of ignoring it. Much like the soup kitchens that know most of their customers are addicted to drugs, or people running needle exchanges to prevent HIV. I can see how, in general, ignoring illegal activity so that the people they are attempting to help will be willing to come in is a net social positive.

They can have whatever internal policies they want.  But when they take government money to advise on government programs . . .they can not advise people on how to get government money and break the law.  Pretty simple.   Coupled with the voter fraud that was uncovered, this organization should and will probably die.

How many ACORN locations did these "investigators (Inquisitors?) have to infiltrate before they were able to implicate three corrupt officials?
Has anyone bothered to ask that question?
FOTD smells a rat. Better still, it's got a FOX odor.

Why does it matter?

If an investigation found three Red Cross offices or Catholic Charity offices that were willing to give advice on how to get government money to operate a slave sex operation and then gave advice on avoiding the tax consequences, I'd call for funding to be cut to them too.   One office?  Fine.  Two, maybe.  But finding multiples above that IN ADDITION to past convictions for fraud within the organization shows a pattern of failing to keep control.

So if the camera crew went to 100 offices and found 4 or 5 willing to do this, that's enough for me.  It's more than one or two bad apples.  The institution failed.  Sorry.  Someone can do the job better.

Please don't offer that as some sort of excuse or free pass, you've got to be smarter than that.

Got lots of emails about how awful ACORN is....when questioned they all complain what a waste of taxpayer money the organization is...but there have not been emails about the huge waste in government funding the military causes. Is it a coincidence the fright wing media is all over this story and you sheeples are just duplicitous farters?

Your premise is possibly correct, however: Kneejerk much?

If this is true, Faux News sets a new (low) standard for fact checking:

http://crooksandliars.com/david-neiwert/fox-gets-punkd-acorn-volunteer-knew

Fox gets punk'd: ACORN volunteer knew 'pimp' and 'prostitute' were fake, was putting them on

"They were not believable", said Ms. Kaelke of the two actors. "Somewhat entertaining, but they weren't even good actors. I didn't know what to make of them. They were clearly playing with me. I decided to shock them as much as they were shocking me. Like Stephan Colbert does – saying the most outrageous things with a straightface." While her sense of humor might not be funny to many people, the fact is that she spun false scenario after false scenario and the videographer ate them up.

ACORN provided a copy of a San Bernardino police report of their investigation into the "homicide" of Kaelke's husband. The police concluded, "the claims do not appear to be factual. Investigators have been in contact with the involved party's known former husbands, who are alive and well."

LOL. I had seriously considered including a line in my second post about how there was a good chance the volunteers didn't believe the pimp was real, given his absolutely ridiculous garb. I deleted it because I thought I'd be called paranoid.  :o
