12 dead and over 30 wounded in an execution-style attack. Obama's remarks (after giving "shout outs" to audience members):

Here's how the attack apparently ended:

"As she pulled up to the center, the officer, Kimberly Munley, spotted the gunman, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, brandishing a pistol and chasing a wounded soldier outside the building, said Chuck Medley, the director of emergency services at the base.

Sergeant Munley bolted from her car and shot at Major Hasan. He turned toward her and began to fire. She ran toward him, continuing to fire, and both she and the gunmen went down with several bullet wounds..."

One of the soldiers murdered by that eff stain is an Okie.

(from the article)

Spc. Jason Dean Hunt

Hunt, 22, of Frederick, Okla., went into the military after graduating from Tipton High School in 2005 and had gotten married just two months ago, his mother, Gale Hunt, said. He had served 3 1/2 years in the Army, including a stint in Iraq.

Gale Hunt said two uniformed soldiers came to her door late Thursday night to notify her of her son's death.

Hunt, known as J.D., was "just kind of a quiet boy and a good kid, very kind," said Kathy Gray, an administrative assistant at Tipton Schools.

His mother said he was family oriented.

"He didn't go in for hunting or sports," Gale Hunt said. "He was a very quiet boy who enjoyed video games."

He had re-enlisted for six years after serving his initial two-year assignment, she said. Jason Hunt was previously stationed at Fort Stewart in Georgia.

The big question is going to be where to draw the line when it comes to beliefs and internet postings, etc.....

I think that facts will dribble out about how sympathetic the killer was to muslim extremists.

we vs us

TPM highlighted some of Obama's speech at Ft. Hood today:

"I think all of us - every single American - must acknowledge that this generation has more than proved itself the equal of those who have come before.

We need not look to the past for greatness, because it is before our very eyes.

This generation of soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen have volunteered in a time of certain danger. They are part of the finest fighting force that the world has ever known. They have served tour after tour of duty in distant, different and difficult places. They have stood watch in blinding deserts and on snowy mountains. They have extended the opportunity of self-government to peoples that have suffered tyranny and war. They are man and woman; white, black, and brown; of all faiths and stations - all Americans, serving together to protect our people, while giving others half a world away the chance to lead a better life."

Ballsy, IMO, comparing these folks to the Greatest Generation.  Not because it isn't true, but because we're so used to finding ourselves wanting in comparison.

Well gee whiz, you sure got me with that one. An updated version of what happened may result in a different person being the hero.

One certainty though is that had you been at Fort Hood during the attack (which I know is laughable because you wouldn't be caught dead doing something to defend this country), your coward rear would have been the first under a desk wetting yourself.

Hypothetically speaking of course....

Guido, you are quick to show us your badge of courage, but why do you fail to condemn Dr. No for turning his back on our soldiers and Vets? Such hypocrites.

Oh I get it, it's racism now. You are such a dooshnozzle.  As for your attack on Tom Coburn..not worth considering given your "give a sh!t" attitude towards our military.
