Farmers. . . Joe Hendren.  He's been my agent for several years and helped me through everything from a stolen vehicle to ice storm damage, to a new roof.

Very attentive and easy to work with.

Oklahoma Farm Bureau.  Very competitive rates, great claims service (according to my friend, I've not filed a claim with them), great personal service.

American National they saved me a ton of money.    Plus you go with out claims for 2 years you start getting cash back.  (my son has already blew that for us.)

Here is my agents website.

I called American National.  Their agent couldn't match my rates with Allstate.  Guess it depends on a lot of factors.  Their agent kept asking me how they could underwrite my auto insurance for so little.  I'm not complaining.

Go to an independent agent and let him shop your needs around.  I use Rich and Cartmill.  They will only shop your stuff around to good, solid companies with good reputations and get you the best deal.  There are so many companies out there that are better than the big three (State Farm, Farmers & Allstate).

Funny thing is, I do that every six months; no-one can match what I'm paying.  My brother steered me to this Allstate agent.  He's been good to me sofar, but, knock wood, I haven't had to file an auto insurance claim in 20 years.  I also just carry auto through him, because he can't match what my current homeowner's insurance is underwriting me for, even with the multi policy discount.

I use Farmer's.

My insurance agent (Micky Bilby) also owns Weber's Root Beer.

That's interesting.  I dropped Allstate a couple of years ago because my policy rates were being raised regularly.  My agent was an old friend.  I had no claims, no change in vehicles, no kids on the policy, nada.  She finally referred me over to an independent agent and they hooked me up with Mercury.  The rates there were about 1/3 less than Allstate at the time.  I changed to OK Farm Bureau after I bought my house last year and put all vehicles on with them, including my daughter's cars.

My girlfriend is an independent agent down in Norman.  She's getting a LOT of calls from Allstate customers who are getting their home and car rates raised significantly this renewal cycle.  I'm going to have her give me competitive quotes when my policies come up for renewal, but I'm thinking it will be hard to beat Farm Bureau's rates.

It's almost as if Allstate is trying to get out of the property and auto business in Oklahoma.  Or could be similar to what we used to call a double-down in the chemical business (specialty blends, not commodity).  We went through one year and doubled all our contract prices under a certain revenue threshold on annual contracts. We ended up keeping the customers we wanted and got rid of the pains in the arse.  Same revenue, fewer accounts to service and it freed up time for our reps to go look for larger accounts.  It was a wise strategy.

If you are shopping exact same coverages, I agree with the American National agent's quandry.  No one seems to be having any trouble running circles around Allstate right now.  You might also want to make double sure your agent isn't trimming coverages here and there to keep your premiums low.  I've heard of that happening before, it's not ethical but it happens.

That's odd because I switched from Allstate who we had been with for 15 years to American National and it cut our rate significantly.  Maybe it depends on how bad the agent wants to get or keep your business.

Only thing I can think of.  Although I'm sure me not wanting homeowners at the time may have factored in.  But I'm not carrying homeowners's with Allstate, either.

And if you're curious who my agent is, it's Bill Hayes at 71st/Memorial.

I had all my cars and home with Allstate.  Went to an independent, who put me with Travelers, and my bill was cut by 50%, with better coverage!
