I guess you can buy a Rex Chicken franchise again.  Anyone had the new Rex yet?

Beautiful Brands International has secured the rights to Rex Chicken, a vintage bite-size chicken concept located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The firm recently released a newly-designed logo and website to begin attracting potential franchisees.

They have been selling it at "Coney Beach" for awhile and it was outselling their overpriced hotdogs.

Last I had was "King Chicken" which was the same thing, basically.

They are also franchising Caz's, In The Raw, Dixie Creme Donuts, Fresh Berry Yogurt, and Cafe Ole' as well as some others I can't remember at the moment.

I believe Dixie Creme is Daylight.  From what I understand they buy product (ingredients and equipment) from Daylight.

I have tried it twice at Coney Beach. The first time I gave them the benefit of the doubt since it was only the 3rd day they were serving it when I was there. The second time I tried it will be the last.  Whatever it is they are serving it is not anywhere near the old Rex's Chicken.

That's too bad.  I loved the old Rex.  I think that's the first place I had well spiced fried chicken.  I've tried to duplicate it several times with no luck.

Daylight Donuts are what locals are willing to accept as good since we have no competition in Tulsa.

I have always been a big fan of daylight.  I tried the whole krispy kreme band wagon, but they leave a bad aftertaste like I had eatin something burned.  Though I will give KK props for having donuts that stay fresher longer.

Daylight tastes better, but the texture is dryer, and almost chalk-like after an hour or two.  I like Harvest Bakery on 91st and Delaware.  Not sure where they buy their ingredients (may be Daylight).

The only thing that I like about KK is that they are almost always HOT, and that makes all the difference in the world.

See, I find the whole "hot" donut thing to be disgusting. I LOVE Daylight donuts, and I think they almost taste better when they are day-old.

Can't beat Harvest's chocolate/chocolate fried donut.  Well with the exception of a chocolate iced cruller from the shop at 81st & Yale, but they only do those on certain days and I can't ever seem to hit it right.

That little shop on 81st has great stuff for the kids too.  Fish shaped donuts, Disney "like" designs, and they package things well for delivery to clients.  Good folks.
