I support the BOK center 100%.  My only gripes are that it was located in a part of town that will be hard to develop because of the ugly civic buildings nearby.  The ballpark was built in a perfect location, nestled at the crossroads of Greenwood, Brady, and Blue Dome districts.  Perfectly ripe for development.  I also think the BOK center is butt ugly.  Looks like a smashed roll of duct tape.  Wish it was more classical in architecture.  Very nice inside though.  I am just glad to see development of any type happening downtown.

I've only been inside two major league parks, Royals Stadium & Dodger's Stadium (about 1992, not sure if that is still the same park in LA).

Oh man, I totally missed the reference.

I'm less cool because of that.

Apparently the BOK's ability to draw didn't diminish after the one year anniversary.
There weren't a lot of empty seats at the Bon Jovi concert last night.

And yes, I paid $10 to park. I pay it for the privilege of not having to sit in gridlock.

Now I just need to find the time to get out to a game at the ballpark.

I'd heard this afternoon from one of my BOK Center hater friends that nosebleed seats for Bon Jovi were being given away at the last minute as the band will only play to a full house.  Who knows if that was true or not, and no idea who was getting the freebies if true.  Weren't the cheap seats only $13 to start with for this show?

They were giving out seats by last night.  I don't think it was real wide spread, since the only people that I know who got any where some of my family, and we know some people at BOK.  They were selling them cheap up to that point, but when they were first being sold they were not that low.  We got my mom some tickets for christmas and they were $120 for the pair and were the cheapest ones.  Pisses me off that they dropped the price after that.

They didn't drop the price, they decided to sell the seats behind the stage for super-cheap (like $15 or something). When the show first went on sale, the $15 sections were blocked off, as is usual for concerts there. Not that it's uncommon for that decision to be made after the show sells out. The same thing was done for Def Leppard. IIRC, Billy Joel/Elton John did not sell the seats behind the stage.

I wouldn't know about any seats being given away, since I got mine in the presale. (and still had relatively bad seats for the price because I had to buy nine)

Speaking of baseball stadiums, my son who lives in Tulsa said they were going to demo the old stadium at the fairgrounds. Any word on this?

Nothing confirmed as of yet.  There's a member or two on here trying to convince them of viability as a sports stadium.  I'd hate to see it flattened, it's still in very good condition.

In case your post wasn't tongue-in-cheek:

Won't happen.  Emmett Hahn has the contract for any motorsports events at the Expo.  He took an donkey pounding on the last outdoor auto racing promotion on the horse track in '04.  The present day sandy surface is horrible for auto racing, it was a disaster.  And, FYI, they had mufflers on them many seasons before they went up north for the 1985 season.

I have seen auto-crossing on the infield of the track in more recent times, but that's not a huge for-profit crowd draw in these parts.  Too many gun-toting racists, I suspect.

Sound isn't the only thing neighbors hate about race tracks, they don't like dust either.
