To further expand, the Actors Company of Tulsa's upcoming production will be "The Visit" by Friedrich Durrenmatt. We are performing at Summerstage at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center's Liddy Doenges Theatre June 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th.

Likely unintentional, but the OP sounded a little spammy.

A request for donations should generally include ideas of what the funding it to be used for, what the benefits are and pictures of small hungry children also help.

I agree, that's why I chimed in. I think Starr's intention was to get you to look at the website for more information

This is a fundraiser to help pay for royalties, set pieces, and other costs of producing a show. Additionally, we are raising funds to begin offering classes to adults (a grossly underserved market in this city where most theatre-related educational opportunities are aimed at college-level and below).

Whatever happened to American Theater Company?
Aren't they an acting company?

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

This should probably be moved and the other thread deleted.

I talked to Bubba Martel recently. He still grabs his crotch every few minutes. ;D

Would really like to see more of local productions. Comedy or drama, though I dearly loved the Martels.

Hello All,

We are doing this for real. Our goal is to create an acting school in association with a production company. American Theatre Company is an excellent organization and does wonderful work. What we are trying to accomplish is to make a place where actors can train and have educational opportunities. There is a gap in the education of an actor. You can take classes at Tulsa Community College or you can take them at Tulsa University. Both are reputable institutions, but where does the working class actor or theatre artist go to receive acting lessons? There is an opening for this, and we are working to create an acting school in the heart of Tulsa that will be both reputable and contemporary in it's methods. I've spent the last 15 years of my life studying theatre in various settings, and I believe in the future of Tulsa actors. For the Gaylord Sartain's, Jeanne Tripplehorn's, and Gary Busey's of tomorrow, we need an acting institution now that will begin to craft these professionals.

Our three focus points will be education, production, and community involvement. We will create a center for actors to learn and focus on their craft in order to develop and grow. Tulsa is the perfect place for this center, and the time is now to take that next step in entertainment.

What are we doing in order to begin this startup:

-We have began a campaign that ends this weekend. It is through Kickstarter.Com and we have already gained $810 dollars from 19 backers. Our goal is to raise $5000 dollars in order to get started with the our plans. You can help us achieve our goal at http://bit.ly/supportact. It's very easy to do, and if we don't reach our goal, you don't pay a thing. It's about getting support, making connections, and keeping you updated on what we're doing.

-Don't take my word for it. Hear from the actors of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Go to http://www.youtube.com/actorsoftulsa

-Our company will be at Dwelling Spaces this weekend from 4:30-6:30 reading the State of Oklahoma constitution. It's the longest organizing document of any state. This will allow us to introduce the company and do something that we believe has never been done before. Everyone is invited to come and see in Downtown Tulsa's Blue Dome District.
