Last night President Obama gave his first Oval Office address, I must admit, I missed it.

Today I stopped by Bangkok Thai for lunch and watched the highlights (or lowlights) of the speech on CNN.  I was blown away.  They are calling it the "We don't know what we're doing" speech.  I wish I had been home to see it.

Anyway, that's not the gist of this thread.  The table next to me was comprised of 25 - 30 year olds (4 of them), and I was hooked on their conversation.  They were well dressed, and each wore a corporate ID card, so I assume they had some higher education.

The first "yute" said "Looks like Obama's ready to kick some A$$."

The next comment blew my mind. . .
Yute #2 "Do you think he'll seize BP from the British?"

The next comment was even better. . .
Yute #1 "If he does, we'll be at war with England."

Yute #3 "Great, another war over oil."

Back to Yute #1 "But it'll be quick, we're twice their size." "Laughter!"

This whole exchange made me sad.  I don't know what else to say.

Sounds like some of the regular liberal posters on TNF.

Its always a shock when you realize your views may not be mainstream. People on this forum are pretty smug and convinced of their beliefs. So much so that differing viewpoints are lumped into "liberal" or "anti-capitalist" etc. Sounds to me like they were being more humorous than serious.

I hope so. We don't want BP anyway.

We already own almost 40% of it.

We aren't smug.  That's just a bed-wetting liberal talking point and you know it, you anti-capitalist pig.  ;)
