You pay $99?

I've been running 4.0 for a few weeks, it's pretty sweet.

At the risk of sounding like the technical neanderthal I am, do I update to 4.0 via the usual app update route on my phone or when I'm doing my sync using my iTune interface on my laptop?

All done, it took about an hour. The phone hung on the backup phase but so far it looks good.

Yes, it was $99.

Got the black 16gb model and spent most of Saturday learning to use it.

I was seeing that about the backup on a blog post entered today.  They had several people upgrade theirs; the consensus update time ranged from 20 minutes to an hour.

I suspect it hung because I did the update from my work laptop and I don't keep media files on my work laptop, that's all synced by my personal laptop. I have issues here and there from syncing one phone to two different laptops.

I had huge problems with that when I had a windows phone.

I am selling my black 16GB to anyone who wants one without signing a 2-year contract.

The new app folders are pretty sweet.  Grizzle, what have you used alot on the update?

I've been looking at the specs of the iPhone 4 and I have to say that it's actually got top of the line hardware in it. The first iPhone was miles behind nearly every other smartphone out there hardware-wise. The 3G was merely outdated before it was released. The 3GS hardware was only slightly behind other high-end smartphones. The iPhone 4, by contrast, equals or exceeds every other smartphone in nearly every hardware specification.

The camera is a little behind state of the art, but it's the only thing that falls short.

Between that and making the software useful with 3 and now the improvements in 4, the iPhone is pretty much all there. No longer is it half-baked with respect to software features.

Congrats, Apple. Now please stop with the App Store BS so I can buy one. ;D

Don't feel bad, I thought I bricked mine tonight when it popped up an error after extracting the update and trying to send the file to the phone.  The front panel just had a picture of the cable and said 'iTunes'.  I restarted iTunes (which by the way, i HATE) and it squawked about finding a phone in recovery mode.  Good thing I synced the phone earlier this morning.  Restored the last sync and all was well.

They fixed the approval problems and the majority of the apps rejected are done because they don't work as advertised or need fixed. Also provides unified updates. I'm pretty happy with the app store.
