Soros Could Gain From Drilling Moratorium?

Possibly all moonbat conspiracy, but since the lefties are trying to paint the judge who overturned the six month moratorium on deep water drilling as having a conflict of interest, consider that huge Democrat backer George Soros owns $811 million in Petrobras shares, the Brazilian oil company.  It's reputed that many of the deep water rigs could wind up down in Brazil.

"Within 48 hours after President Obama issued the six-month moratorium on deep-water drilling, the George Soros-backed Brazilian oil company, Petrobras, contacted a large New Orleans company, Laborde Marine, which services the deep-water drilling market. The company was seeking to lease all its vessels. "If the moratorium on deep-water drilling is not lifted, 33 semi-submersible rigs and/or drill ships affected will simply go to other countries where they will be well received, such as Brazil," Cliffe F. Laborde and J. Peter Laborde, Jr. wrote in a June 4 letter to their Louisiana Senators.

Could this be merely a happy coincidence for George Soros, the major financial backer of Obama's presidential campaign who also has $811 million invested in the Brazilian oil company, Petrobras? Wasn't it enough of a payback to Soros when the Obama Administration loaned up to $10 billion to Petrobras? Soros, with his far left-wing organization, MoveOn, is called the Godfather of world socialism. But most relevant currently is that he has been an enthusiastic proponent of global warming and environmental liberalism. He has urged adoption of a global carbon tax. Could it be more than coincidence that his position is strikingly similar to what Obama called for in his June 14 Oval Office speech on the Gulf oil spill and future energy actions?"

I think the "hold up a minute and lets make sure this doesn't happen again" is a proper response.  However, yes, maybe its all for Soros.

Ignore the man behind the curtain.

Why is it that whenever Soros wins, the American people are on the losing end?

Soros owns Snopes and Glenn Beck would never stretch the truth for ratings  ::)

I did catch in the Snopes article that it claims Soros sold his interests in the company.  Apparently he sold his common shares and purchase preferred.

Everyone loves a good conspiracy

Well. . .According to his Form 13F on file with the SEC, it's true.  In fact, it's his largest holding.  So I guess the guy he put in office probably has a pretty strong reason to encourage deep water drilling in Brazil?

Actually it's interesting to read his 13F, because for someone with such "deep" environmental concerns, he sure finances a lot of evil environment destroying companies.

Soros is much like T. Boone Pickens.  He's very good at looking out for his own interests first.

I'm betting Soros is hedged six ways to Sunday on all of his oil and gas positions; it'd be a surprise if he DIDN'T come out ahead.

I would have thought that too, but looking at his filings going back to 2007, he dumped nearly all of his petroleum holdings into Petroleo and Hess corp. about the same time Obama got elected.

Very, very strange for such a successful hedge investor, unless he knew for sure that domestic off-shore production was to be diminished or eliminated.

That's crap. I don't think people believe he's the "Godfather of World Socialism."

Because of his book The Crisis of Global Capitalism the World Socialist Movement likes to hold him up as an example of a capitalist who embraces the Socialist Movement.  They cite him on their web pages and literature, but Socialism was around long before Soros.

I would consider him more a High Priest of Socialism, in that he preaches but does not practice.  Like most liberals, he wants you to live by a completely different set of principals than he is willing to.

you do remember that right before the rig fire Obama EXPANDED off shore drilling right?

Or did Obama (and Soros) *know* that the rig was going to explode? Is it all a set up?

I bet they used the same Jewish CIA guys that Bush used to bomb the World Trade Center (yes we are jumping that far into wingnuttia)
