So you think we're about to have alot less traffic congestion?

You think the impound lots and insurance companies are jumping around, jumping around, jumping up, jumping up, and getting down?

What do you think will happen?

I think we're going to see even more outrageous fees out of the towing companies and impound lots. On the bright side, it might increase demand for transit.

It's hateful, hateful I tell you.  Only Mexicans, blacks, and Indians drive around without insurance.  It's just whitey prevailing again.

Whatever happened to the idea of a window sticker that stated when your insurance expired?  Didn't I hear that at some point?

Great idea.  Than we wouldn't' even need to ask about immigration status.  No status, no insurance, no sticker.

Brilliant!

I just think it's smart.  Gives LEO an 'at a glance' at vehicles who don't have one.  Although I'm sure they'll scam it like the old inspection stickers.

Instead of impounding them, why not do what California did to help cut down on street racing a few years ago?

Because it's an utterly ridiculous waste of a perfectly good car. I'm fine with seizing the cars of serial offenders, but crushing them is stupid. Why not sell them at auction and raise money for better enforcement?

the same thing could have been said about a lot of perfectly good cars traded in during C4C, but that didn't stop Obummer from pouring silica down them.

THis Volvo refused to give in easily though...it knew how stupid C4C was:

The difference, of course, is that the owners of the vehicles with the destroyed engines consented to said destruction, that the entire vehicle was not destroyed, so useful parts could still be salvaged to repair other vehicles, and that the program specifically applied only to the replacement of vehicles getting poor gas mileage with those meeting a certain, more stringent, emissions standard.

Not that cash for clunkers is in any way relevant.

Anyone know what gas mileage that model Volvo used to get?

I hate destroying awesome machinery, but street racing is dangerous even to non-participants and needs to be stopped. That was one of the reason organized drag racing (NHRA?) was started, or so I've been told.

That being said, if the word is out your car can be confiscated and crushed and you street race anyway, that's the chance you took. If they are sold at auction, they will most likely just wind up racing on the street again.

There's a different program for motorcyclists who street race.

They harvest the organs of those who lose those races.

My comment was partially tongue in cheek. Selling them at auction is a good idea.
