I just want to say that I know the candidate and would vote for him if I lived anywhere remotely near his district, but what does this have to do with county commissioner jobs?

I think if I run for city office again, I will state I'm the only candidate willing to sign a pledge not to fund stem cell research, corporate bailouts or new wars.

Anna Falling did much the same when she ran for the county commission against John Smaligo.  She was talking about how she believed in marriage between men and women, pro-life etc.  It's totally irrelevant at that level.  I simply want to know how they intend run the county and what they are going to do with all that kickback money that comes with the job.

I find it pretty irrelevant at the national level.  This blatant irrelevancy in a county election just proves the point of what ALL politicians are trying to do by raising the issue, be it pro life or pro choice, pro or anti gay marriage.  The whole gay marriage thing was cooked up by Karl Rove and his ilk to get gay marriage ban votes on general election ballots in 2004.  This got otherwise apathetic fundies out to vote against what they saw to be a travesty, and oh I guess while I'm here of course I'm not going to vote for Kerry so...

I know Oklahoma is a conservative, under the buckle of the bible belt state, but if I lived in OKC there is no way I would do business with him.

I don't see where his stand on pro life would enter into his position. They are not policy makers for the state nor do they have any influence on state statutes or state law, nor are they responsible for enforcement of state or federal statutes. They are responsible for the day to day operations of the county physcaly and financially, i.e. roads, right of way, business licensing and enforcement, contracts for improvement, and the interaction between city's and the county. They have power over any county run service, Health Dept., county parks, zoning and regulation involving the county and it's properties, and in some states fire and ambulance service.

Obviously he's a tool and is shamelessly pandering to the ones who will show up in droves to vote for him because their pastors will tell them to. Qualifications clearly mean nothing.
