Where can I buy music and CDs? Are there any "mortor and brick" stores?

Back when I was a youngster there were several places where could buy music--Soundwarehouse, Startship, ect.

Are there any left where there is a really good selection?  If there are none left, of what is available, which ones are recommended?

Not looking for any specific genre, but a place where have all genres.

Thanks

Thanks.  I was not aware they had moved.  Thought they had just closed the doors at the old building and went out of business.

You can thank the University of Tulsa for the move...

Starship has a fairly decent selection but they make it the biggest pain in the but to browse.  I like to look at my albums and hold them before purchase.  I also hate having to find someone to unlock the cases.

I know you said "brick and mortar" but the best place to buy CDs is amazon.com.  The selection is better than pretty much any record store in the country.  If you don't mind not having the physical CD, then itunes is a good alternative.  Then again there are the torrent sites.....

The iTunes software for Windows has got to be one of the worst applications ever written.

I use it and haven't had any major problems with it.  What is it about it that you don't like?  And for the record, I'm far from an Apple fanboi.  My iPod is the only Apple product I own, and it will probably be the only one.  I didn't even pay for it, it was a gift.

Try using it on an older machine sometime. And it only runs on Windows and OSX. :P

iPods are pretty nice. I used to have a 60GB 4G before the hard drive died. Since then, I've just used my cell phones. Since 2006 or 7, most of 'em have passable media capabilities and it saves room in my pocket. My latest has 32GB of built-in flash memory and I have a 16GB memory card in it. The music player does what I need it to do and it's got an FM transmitter, which is handy.

As a plain portable music player, I'd take an iPod Classic over anything. Still wouldn't use iTunes with it, though.  ;D

Ah, that makes sense.  My computer is about 3 months old.

+ eleventy billion.

Apple has always made pretty good hardware, but this software sucks out loud.  I avoid it..only reason I use it is for backing up my iPhone.

You know, I put that very question into Google, and found a bunch of hits...starting with this one!

I like Amazon better than iTunes, but I really have never had a problem with iTunes other than I miss Winamp's on-the-fly playlists and ability to "enqueue" songs.

iTunes is so very un-Apple like.  It's a bloated mess with a counter intuitive, inconsistent interface.

Tagging goes pretty smoothly, though.
